I have my VIC 1 and radio tray direct to the battery. My RT524 and R442 is powered off the radio tray. Not sure that helps answer what you asking but thought I would share how I have mine set up.
Your biggest issue will be finding parts like doors, 2man to 4 man conversion kits, etc. Prices are crazy when they are wanting $3k+ for a soft top conversion kit with 4 doors and they don't even come up that often for sale. $4k for X doors, etc. A local car dealer just bought 5 pretty rough...
Thanks, I agree!! Sadly many of the older M998s have been turned into bubba builds with bed liner paint, different wheels, different seats, H1 "clones" etc. I love the newer HMMWV's but just something about an original OEM M998 that is just classic cool to me. Mine is a 1988 and I kinda wish it...
For those looking for another event to attend the Asheboro Airport has a fly in. Last year we had a nice showing of MVs. Keep an eye out for this year's date. It is usually in the fall.
When you have a cargo cover or similar it kicks the antennas out enough they don't rub on the cover in the bowed/stowed position. If you don't have the the military SOP is to stow them in an X configuration across the back.
