New tires installed. Centramatics as well
Old tires looked pretty tread worn when sitting next to new tires, so I took some measures to see what diff if any, Answer is no difference.
Raised the truck maybe 1/4 inch.
Need to check the difference on the speedo and see. Truck only wanted to...
Got the tires changed. Took all weekend but looks and drives better
Opted to set up tires to run in the same direction so the tread looks the same on all 4 corners.
I was able to get overspray off of my Data Plate and MWO tag using Mineral spirits, a piece of scrap blue jean material and a wood scraper blade. I have to say I bought my truck from a supplier (not at auction) so the overspray I had to remove may have been CARC or CARC replacement, I'm really...
The three studs that broke loose did not stay put when pounded back in place. I could not get a good enough grip with vise grips to hold them and get the nut off the stud. I did get 3 or four layers of paint though. Wound up cutting with a cutting wheel (what a PITA) but it got them out. MME...
I did not get the bead separated from the rim. I stopped when I realized I did not have the studs and bolts needed to finish the job. Working on making a tool that uses a bottle jack and leverage to pull the rim out of the bead. Saw some one use a motor hoist, it looked sound, but I want...
Today did not go well for installing tires.
Pics of RIGHT and WRONG tool for disassembly.
Should have had a clue when TM said torque to 125lb/ft. But that was not what stopped me for the day.
Before you start make sure you have spare studs and bolts. These 3 stripped and I had to cut them...
Got first set of pouches added to seats
I know, wrong camo pattern, but it looks better than ACU pouches.
Middle pouch did not install as nicely as the outside 2 did. Inside pouch is VFAK that I need to put the Red Cross on. All 3 are Blackhawk. First pouch is held using provided malice...
Have you tried calling High Dust 4X4 in Norflok or 4Wheel Parts in Va Beach? Those are local off road shops, Hi Dust had a great rep 20 years ago before I moved north.
Got my "NEW" tires delivered today.
Not sure how comfortable I am putting an 11 year old tire on my truck. The other two are date code 1310 and 3111. Truth is I did not ask about date codes before I ordered, add said "NEW". These are still newer and in better condition than my current...
Welcome to the madness. Where in Virginia are you? Is it already titled? 6.2 with 3 speed is right for an '86. Hope your not in a hurry to get anywhere in it.
Army Jeep Parts sells 34094 Lusterless CARC Green, Special Black 911 and Brown rattle cans. I have had very good success with these and I Like the green much better than the Rustoleum. But like I said they don't last more than 6 months on canvas, movement causes the paint to dull and fade away.
Hey Alex, So my neighbors thought I'd lost my mind, standing on a ladder looking at the color by numbers plot for the slant back and then letting the rattle cans fly. Figure 42 in the tech man lays out the camo pattern, that was my color by numbers reference. I washed the top and let it dry...
When I bought the truck I saw another truck with the lights and license plate on the bumper and thought it looked good. I paid the guy I bought it from to put them there. Then I saw the Rhino tire carrier set up and found that one of the lights would be completely covered. I also have to move...
