We currently have 3 M1079's. We have a 1998 A0 and a 2006 A1R in stock and a 2002 A1 waiting to be picked up as soon as we can get access to the base after quarantine is over. The A0 is $25k, A1 $30k, and A1R is $35k. All will be fully serviced, mechanically sound, and come with our standard 6...
We buy a LOT of trucks and we try and avoid the auctions too :-). With as many as we purchase, we pre-inspect all the trucks we buy and get them in batches before they hit the auction site and even then we end up cutting up 20-25% of the trucks when we find problems that aren't cost effective to...
Unless you get up into the M1089's, the rest have the same frame and most major components. Even the axles are the same across the entire family. The major difference between the M1083's and the M1078's are the HP rating of the engine (290/330 vs 225), bed/frame length, intermediate axle, and...
EUC, Bill of Sale, and SF-97 wait times are WAY up. If the truck is Demil A then you will only have the release paperwork. If it is Q be prepared to wait multiple months (sometimes up to 6 months) for the EUC. The good news is that you will have the SF-97 or Bill of Sale by then.
We strongly...
The TM's have the entire process. For the junk cab, disconnect everything and just lift off. For the good one you are putting on, make sure you use a spreader bar so you don't crush the rain guards or bend the roof.
The 1078's are great trucks and if they are taken care of, they are pretty reliable. We stock most of the FMTV line and keep quite a few parts in stock including spare engines, transmissions, complete power plants, etc. www.fmtvsales.com
Cat's are expensive if you buy new or direct from a dealer, but they are an extremely reliable engine and are pretty cheap to replace if you blow one up. We stock pretty much the entire line of FMTV's (1078's, 1079's, 1083's, 1084's, 1088's, 1089's etc) and keep most parts in stock including...
Just got back from Nevada DMV and they are claiming they can't register a vehicle with a reassigned SF-97 from Gov Planet. They will only title and register the vehicle if Gov Planet issues a title. Anyone heard of this?
I haven't done it yet, but according to my senior mechanic (37 years as a National Guard wheeled vehicle mechanic), it can be done in place. He is off tomorrow, but I can get more info Thursday if nobody else has responded by then.
There is a MASSIVE difference between driving around with a mounted dummy gun (or even a live gun) and driving around town firing a propane .50. Unless it is a sanctioned event, seeing some idiot driving around in a military vehicle firing a weapon will send people into a panic. They don't know...
I drive a M1083A1 with a full turret setup with armored GPK and have never had an issue in Oregon. Only negative comment from a cop was when I stopped to help pull a truck out of a ditch. The cop on the scene gave me grief because I didn't have a gun mounted at the time and he thought it would...
Gov Planet is definitely a buyer beware site. I still buy quite a bit from them, but I look pretty closely at the posted pictures before bidding and save all the pictures in case parts walk off between the pictures being taken and picking up the rig. I also accept that if something is wrong...
Yes, that is correct. I've never tested it and I doubt I ever will. For me, it is more an interesting bullet point to put on the sign when I display the truck at events. The most I have ever had in the back is around 3,000 lbs which the truck didn't even notice.
The hardest this truck has...
There is ~ 80% parts commonality between the various FMTV's so this should be possible. I converted our 2004 M1088A1 into a 12.5 ton capacity M1083A1 with an upgraded 2009 cab.
