This is great info. I'm still waiting for paperwork to clear on the A2's, but this gives me a good direction to go when they get here. I will post how I get them installed as I do it.
The M1043A2's and M1045A2's came with the up-armored doors with the full length piano hinge instead of the 2-pin soft & x-doors or the 3-pin SF armored doors. For those of you that have one of these beasts and went with the 2-pin doors, how did you do it?
The other big problem with the stripped cabs is the cost of shipping them. I had one I tried to give away for free here and nobody would take it due to the shipping costs. I've got the space and don't mind storing stuff if I am going to be able to sell it for a profit, but it doesn't make a lot...
I'm the guy with the parts in Portland and I ended up cutting 3 cabs up and taking them to the scrap yard because there wasn't any demand. I may get more in a couple of weeks.
I left the doors on when I did mine. Took the turret cover off, ran a 4x4 steel post through the windows to use as a spreader bar and straps down through the turret hole. Stripped cab with the doors and all glass in pivoted about the center of the doors.
The actual swap is pretty easy...
Agree with Scott that the armor has to be scrapped. My recollection is that it needs to be cut into pieces no larger than 18" x 18". However, the interior, electronics, door parts, etc. are non-controlled and unless the demil order states no parts recovery (some of them do), then the new owner...
Another possibility here is to get a frame from someone parting out a vehicle. You can either cut out the channel insert you want or cut the full length from the back of the frame to where you want the insert so you only have 1 weld instead of 2 and still have all the original mounting points at...
larger floor drains in the footwell have the duckbill rubber drain plugs that go all the way through the channel. The smaller drain holes have a rubber plug in the top and are open on the bottom.
The frame rails on a M1088 are 8 1/2" shorter than a M1083. Find someone parting out a M1083 and get the trans cooler along with the bed, relocate the new trans cooler to between the frame rails where it is on the M1083's and use the full 14.5' bed. If they are fully parting out the truck, you...
Not sure about the A1P2's, but the MRAP Caimans came with runflats and you can use the wheels on a standard LMTV. As I recall it adds about 150 lbs per wheel for the runflat.
