Nice job! LOL. Still haven't done the trans cover. I think I will take the stock cover and keep hacking away at it until it fits. Then, I will build a new center portion out of sheet metal and then fiberglass over that. I'll gut the stock insulation and use dynamat or some sort of spray on...
Rant: I hate the Chinese crap that all of the big box stores are trying to pass off as tools. I took my "professional" grade swivel head Arrow rivet gun home from Lowes and cracked the head on it after 4 rivets. I took that piece of junk back and went to Sears to buy me a "real" rivet gun...
Update time. I got a bunch of stuff done over the weekend. First order of business was swapping out a leaking tire for a known good tire. With 24 bolts holding a rim together, I was glad my dad lent me his impact gun! It went pretty smoothly except for the o-ring that kept trying to creep...
Good to know. What benefits do the Alpha hubs have besides the helical gears and the CTIS provisions? I'd like to center my front diff, but it won't work because of interference between the Cummins and the drive-shaft and diff.
Please shoot me a PM or email sometime on where to get a good...
Hi guys,
I've been hearing one of my front halfshafts popping lately. I suspect it is the front-left but it is a little tough to localize with all of the engine noise. My first instinct is to buy both front A0 10k shafts and swap them out, but the gearhead in my says why not upgrade while...
I bought a set of the Optima battery adapters on ebay and got a pair of Optima red-tops on sale from my local Advance Auto. I had great luck with the Optima AGM batteries in my CUCV and I beat the snot out of it on mountain trails on a regular basis.
That shape is pretty close to what I need. I wish someone around here had one I could try on my truck to see how it fits. That might save me a lot of fab work.
More power!!:driver: My plan is to get some more road miles on it stock as it sits. I have a EGT/Boost gauge to install first...
It's pretty stinkin loud right now because I haven't modified the engine cover to fit the Cummins. I hope to get that done in the next few weeks. That should make a big difference in noise and heat transfer. Heat blowing off the engine is fine in the winter but it's miserable in warm weather.
LOL, I thought about moving that Rubbermaid box before taking the pic. Thanks Ted. Need to get my high-back seats and 3-point seat belts mounted so I can do some more extensive test driving. Can't wait to put some real miles on it.
I finally got my tires and wheels mounted over the weekend. Clark Truck in Poca, WV assembled them for me and I picked them up on Friday. I love the look of the 24-bolt rims and the Baja TA's. Looks pretty sinister.
I get so tired of having to play hall monitor. Drop the sarcasm and the snide remarks. If you don't have anything constructive to say about the topic, then move on. We are supposed to be a family in the helpful way, not in the obnoxious sibling way.
John is one heck of a good guy. I sure do miss the days when I only lived an hour from him. There was a time when I spent so much time there that the wife referred to him as the other woman. Please tell him I said howdy when you go back to get your truck. Say hey to Pete, Ricky and David too.
The timing of this thread is perfect. I was actually on the phone yesterday for about 30 minutes with a high ranking MVPA board member discussing ways that SS and the MVPA could work together to better support and protect the hobby. We did a lot of brainstorming and came up with some really...
No special flasher needed: http://galuba.org/LED-Trucklite.pdf I am running a $20 solid state flasher from hummerpartsguy along with the LED light in the switch and the signals function just fine.
One thing I forgot to mention is the little green LED light that I put in the turn signal switch. I read a report on the TruckLight website that said the LED signals may malfunction because of a back-feed situation through the incandescent bulb. They recommended replacing the bulb with a: LED...
