    M1088A1 - Crank , No start

Troubleshooting a computer controlled engine without consulting the computer is an exercise in madness and futility. Get a J1708 / J1939 interface and actually find out what the computer wants to get the engine running.

    LMTV Abs troubleshooting

Same. Odd since it's connected to the bus but yeah even on the new A1P2 trucks I haven't got it to work with J1939. Doesn't seem to be an issue though for troubleshooting so I haven't bothered to look into it.

    LMTV Abs troubleshooting

PGN is Parameter Group Number 65226. See the "(0)" at the end? That means the response to the DM1 PGN 65226 request was zero. In other words there are no active faults. Check powers and grounds to the ABS module.

    Power not really off….. strange

LBCD is between the spare tire and the air filter housing. Early A1's may have the older polarity protection box which is just some big potted diodes to keep PVT Snuffy from connecting the batteries wrong and bursting the truck into flames. The LBCD replaced it when the 100A alternator rose to...

    Diagnostic Readers

Nice. I wonder how many M1082's are running around with stored codes.

Yep. And this is what happens when they go bad:

Looking for M1078A1 ABS troubleshooting guide

The resistor spec is something I know from dealing with CANBUS in general - my CAT ECM bench flash cable had to have a termination resistor added..... the 120 Ohm rating is sometimes shown in the schematic and sometimes not but I didn't look at a manual for that information. I'm sure buried in...

    Diagnostic Readers

Engine ECM doesn't know about CTIS. Bluefire would have to be programmed to understand the CTIS data and I'm not sure the CTIS is sending data all the time. The pressure reading is only relevant when the CTIS controller does a pressure check so 99% of the time it's going to read atmospheric...

    Cold start c7 issues

Upon review of the schematic I can verify that the fuel separator bowl heater is on CB49 and is simply ignition switched so it's on all the time with the ignition. Nothing to do with cold start function.

    Cold start c7 issues

There is a heated fuel bowl on the fuel/water separator element...... someone, somewhere is probably confused thinking that is involved in the cold start. I can tell you without a doubt it is not used by the CAT ECM (at least not directly). I just replaced my entire engine harness from the ECM...

I would do an autopsy on the original. Just for giggles. But really a Deutsch DT 3-pin, terminals, wire, and heat shrink is all you need here. No real need to pot it unless you enjoy such exercises. Or you can buy the actual thing if you like: https://www.customconnectorkits.com/dt04-3p-p006/...

You can just use any 1/4 watt 120 Ohm resistor. Jam it into the P250 female terminals and see if she talks. Meg-Ohm readings or even K-Ohm readings are saying bad resistor to me - 11,500 Ohms is nowhere even close to 120 Ohms..... different universe and not going to work. You can switch the...

    Cold start c7 issues

No the A1R and A1P2 still use Ether assist and the solenoid/cylinder is in the same location. I just installed a bottle on the existing solenoid. The difference is that the later C7 uses a single Ether nozzle at the intake manifold and the solenoid is a different part number.

    Cold start c7 issues

Can confirm that cold mode status flag is always set on any start below 158F. The engine rolls coal a bit in this mode. I've never had my Ether engage that I'm aware of but I can't recall at the moment if I had the cylinder installed last winter or not. My truck came from Texas with no...

P250 is supposed to be the harness connector for the R13 termination resistor. Does the matching connector show 120 ohms between C and D? It looked like it would be under the gauge cluster in the TM. But the TM doesn't have the best drawings. But it looks like you found it.

Educate me on talking to wabco ABS

The ABS module is on the J1587/J1708 bus along with all the other modules and connects through the same diagnostic connector.

Find any part for FMTV…. What are the unicorns?

I could come up with anything and everything but your uncle either won't be able to find it or the price will be so outrageous the exercise will be pointless. Since he specifically said he could find shocks - have him try to find the one's for the front of the A1R/A1P2: 2510-01-528-1547 BAE...

Find any part for FMTV…. What are the unicorns?

Grove 1-193-0-00516 I'm sure you could contact them and ask - last price I can find is $22,363.00 Seems like you could just buy an M1084 instead.

Looking for M1078A1 ABS troubleshooting guide

On the diagnostic connector on the truck check the resistance between pins C and D. This should show 120 Ohms - the value of the J1939 bus termination resistor. If it doesn't, pull the dash panel (gauge panel) and find connector P250/J250 and make sure it's securely plugged together. If it is...

Ah - yeah that would do it. I'll have to check but I thought they both lit up on my C7 truck without the laptop connected. Different ECM and TCM though.
