Often driving way out to a rural DMV helps a lot. They work with a lot of farmers and so forth and are used to manipulating the rules. DMV's in the city want the "permanent" cooking and sleeping facilities and all that jazz while a rural DMV clerk will often be fine with a sleeping bag and a...
Just go with www.dirtlegal.com then. Their process is painless and they are extremely helpful. Awesome customer service. If Georgia doesn't want to play ball then give your money to Utah. That's what I did. Apparently my state doesn't want my money and doesn't understand they might as well take...
I have never heard of anyone even being pulled over in an LMTV for any reason......... I drove my M1079 from Texas to Oregon with no plates, no trip permit.... nothing at all showing on the outside of the truck. I had insurance, title, and bill of sale with me of course. Was followed, passed...
In many states (including Georgia as far as I can tell) you don't need a CDL for a motorhome or RV regardless of weight. So any FMTV being used and successfully registered as such are exempt no matter what their weight or characteristics are. Throw a sleeping bag and a Coleman stove in the back...
The A1R was built specifically to be field upgraded to an armored cab. It was a late running production change ordered due to the media frenzy in 2006 over troops not having body armor and armored vehicles..... Air ride was just added expense, and probably couldn't handle the weight of the A1P2...
Yeah sorta. Not calling myself a "vendor" as such. I need cab mounts for my own trucks and as such I have to buy 50 sets to get them and not pay the "vendors" a literal arm and leg for "new old stock" that's typically so old it's worthless or expensive urethane replacements that don't offer the...
I spoke with Pat via PM and I believe we are good to go. Moving the thread would severely limit it's visibility as this group buy is only applicable to FMTV's. He has all my contact information, etc.
It's also not *really* a group buy in the strictest sense. I already paid for the goods. I'm...
In practice if they are installed immediately following manufacture they are good for about 15-20 years. Perhaps longer if they are cared for with some rubber protectant such as:

I'm good with that personally. On...
Group Buy Is Now CLOSED. All 50 sets are spoken for. Thanks to everyone!
I am having 100 each of the thicker and 100 each of the thinner cab mounts manufactured for a group buy. Anyone that wants in please post here.
Right now pricing is $30 for the thicker mounts, and $24 for the thinner...
Well - here's the deal. I'm going to have 100 of each piece made. The cost is going to be $30 each for the larger mounts, and $24 each for the thinner mounts. This includes the tooling cost, etc. Estimate is about 6 weeks lead time. I'll start a new post for anyone that wants some.
Highly doubt anyone has that kind of 100,000 ft view of the situation other than the militaries and they don't likely track it in that way. It would likely take a team of accountants and auditors to figure that out.
Plenty of them written off from damage, left or given to foreign nations, sent...
Yeah that's wrecked. Throw that in the f*ckit bucket.
I got a used one on ebay for $100 that was in good shape - studs all cleaned up like new. Make sure there's no black stain of capacitor electrolyte leaking out of the back where it's potted.
In the meantime just bolt the battery and load...
Mine were also "gone" - especially the rear cab mount which just swiveled around. Previous owner swapped in a single of the thick mount but nothing else. I swapped in all the correct pieces - there's quite a few on the A1R cab latch mount. Two of the slim mounts, one of the thicker mounts...
