Official 2011 SS Ga Rally Info thread

Well, my speculating worked about as well as most who went Out West in the 1800's. Some found Gold, my guess landed me in the crowd in the service industry kissing the lucky one's tails!

Oh, nevermind, reread your last post Dave and Special Authority for Over The Road Driver's means that 2 beers in a 1 hour period, stopped for any reason and you are done dealing. I am speculating of course but having a CDL and liking beer in the same person is a curse.

Curious about what's going on with Tigger. Seemed like a great guy both at the Rally last year and messing around on this board. Hope all is well or will be well with him in the near future.

    Cummins rough idle

Plus 1 on the fuel lines and plus 2 on removing the hand pump primer. Those hard plastic lines are primary culprit's for leaks. The cummins draws in about 1 1/2 the amount of fuel it really needs, the rest get's sent to tank. I've rehabilitated enough of these at this point that I replace all...

    whats this?

They hit the governor at about 62 indicated by the Speedo. Hold it most of the time but some hills will put you back to 55. You must be at an outdated A/F show, the M113 is there, the Cat 130G Motorgrader, the Cat 420 Backhoe, and that old scoop loader. Some of that stuff is even being phased...

    Which FMTV is this?

Actually, those trailer wheels are 22.5's with the same bolt pattern. I can't recall the size but they are a commercial type tire. I thought of getting some of these but they are shorter in height than the 1100's I ended up putting on my Deuce.

Pete, don't bring Frankenstein on the trails, if it get's stuck, it's not probable that anyone would get that beast out. I'd like to see it in person though.

Richard does fine on the MKT. He wouldn't feed us Possum, he keeps that for himself since they don't yield a great deal of meat and he doesn't love us enough to share.

Mike, I can get the steaks at the commisary here at the Marine Base in Albany for likely less money. If you're interested, shoot me a message. They just need a few days heads up on quantity. I've gotten an entire ribeye cut up in the recent past for $70 and it made quite a few steaks. I...

Well, that stinks, at least Phil is coming, his wife is used to handling boys around the age of mine, she might just help Lee out. I doubt there are enough younger member's on here to start a GA Rally Daycare. I'm working on setting up a TV in my tent for Friday night when Lee and the boys...

    Wrecker count

M936's still have a strong presence in the National Guard as the new FMTV Wrecker has not been well received and the M984's still hold the title of the "Wrecker that OSHKOSH Built with God's Approval" according to quite a few maintenance CWO that I'm friends with. M936's are a close second and...

I'm pretty sure everyone remember's you Tigger. You had just went through a terrible crash to avoid hitting a school bus full of kids and destroyed the commercial rig your were driving. Not that I'd have done anything different, it's certainly a story that will always stay in your mind and...

    2011 Ga Rally t-shirt poll/order thread

Richard, I'll take 2 XXL and 1 XL, and 2 very small if you're doing those for my boys, short sleeve if possible. I'll be there on Wednesday when CAMO's advon party rolls in.

    Mystery Deuce ?

The Marines never really embraced the entire M109 concept. I've got 3 in the boneyard in Albany that were converted here and never left here. No miles at all on them since rebuild and the weather has not been kind to them. I tried a few weeks ago to slave start them, all 3 turn over but will...

    818 w/ turbo & jakes haulin logs

Pretty neat looking set up. Did you move the air filter to the passenger side fender to ease the trouble of plumbing the air intake tube to the turbo? At first, I was going to post that the truck is not an M818 based on that. Then I got to thinking, heck, it'd save some pipe and would make...

which should I get truck 2.5 ton or 5 ton

I own both and love them all. The Deuce is a very good start and was my starting point. Everything is simple, compared to regular cars, everything is bolted down way too tight and takes very large sockets and wrenches. As you move on to M809 series 5 tons and M939 series 5 tons, you will need...

    Who pulls trailers regularly?

I pull my M105A2 everywhere and tie chem lights onto the back corners when I have to back at night. Someone found an expiration date on a pile of them that my unit had and they were about to throw them out. They still work fine, just don't burn all night. In daylight, I work the wheel one way...

    Hydraulic oil weight in 936/816?

As suggested, 10W oil for the Wrecker Hydraulic Tank. Nice looking truck you scored. Throw a dog a bone and it should have a straight rear most axle under it again. Then you get to reconnect the drive shaft for it. And then tackle the other issues but it's a sweet A2 from what I've seen.

Two group 31's to crank 855?

I use Hawkers in all my trucks and love them. I have 2 in an M818 I recovered for a guy and they spin that 855 over very nicely down here in SW GA. In the Deuce, the starter spins the motor about as fast as it runs at idle. Kind of hard to pin down though, the Deuce is running the moment you...
