Will, I wish mine was a Freightliner! I own the older generation made by AM General. Thanks for the suggestion, though. If no one has any leads, I will check the parts manual and try to find the civilian manufacturer. That is only sometimes effective since many of those companies won't sell...
Does anyone know where I can find parts for an M917 dump? For those who are unfamiliar, this truck is not part of the M939 series. It is part of the M915 series. I am looking for a new diff lock/front wheel engagement switch, one heater control knob and a couple of the fans that go on the...
Sorry, FMJ. I HATE when guys jump in after someone already indicated a willingness to buy something. In this case, I honestly missed your request. I suppose it does not matter as we will meet on eBay. A good friend has purchased such a kit before so I have that price as a reference. I won't...
I don't think any of the M944s ever had a winch. That does not mean you could not add one, but I would not wait to find one with a winch because you'll be waiting a long time (i.e., forever).
Seriously, though, NEIOWA is right on. They'd turn it in as outdated excess material and probably ask themselves how something that old snuck through the cracks. I think you are asking more about what people in general would do with such a find. Well, here's what I would do it. Sell it and buy a...
I don't think you will find anything but the really rough coming out surplus. With that said, I bet some will come out that can be built. I was building an M978 fueler before I found my now-gone M977. I have since found an M983 tractor and I plan to own that for a while!
RAT4SPD, perhaps, you mentioned this elsewhere. I can't remember. What made you go from Navy to Army? A lot of guys are staunch one way or the other. With that said, I did know a guy who was a Navy Seal who wanted to go to Army Special Forces. He did not make it due to medical reasons. Still...a...
I just posted on another thread that the A3 is not as "fast" as an A2. They are quicker, but their top speed is lower. The A3 runs comfortably at about 48 MPH. In order to do 52 MPH, you are running about 2,500 RPM. The motor (data plate) and the manual say that is fine, but it seems a bit...
If you own both and drive them a bit, you will like the A3 better than an A2. I have never met anyone who owned both who liked the A2 performance-wise better. I am not talking about looks or nostalgia. The A3 is just a better designed truck. The motor has more power. The tranny shifts crisply...
David Doyle once posted a report generated during the Viet Nam War that summarized the longevity of the M44 series. Basically, the report stated that M35s required motor overhauls at around 10K miles. Admittedly they were used very hard.
If I had to have a truck start up once under terrible...
