We're very happy with how it's grown. It's a big event now, with 100+ vehicles, the swap meet, etc. Not many events that feature offroading have those kind of stats.
Load your stuff up and come down! We've had several people bring deuces from that far away (NY, WI, MI, etc.). You won't...
I have a love hate relationship with 285.
On one hand, it's fast. Like the OP said, the flow of traffic is really about 80mph. I like going fast, so I have no problem with that. Most of the time, you get lucky and since everyone is going 80ish, as long as you're in the crowd and not changing...
You're thinking of the square holes in the receiver tubes for hanging the end racks on the side of the trailer. The original poster was referring to the square holes that are stamped in the actual body (side) of the trailer.
Welcome to the site! We love Jeeps and Mules. :D
There are a lot of members here who are very knowledgeable about these vehicles, you should have no problem finding the help you need.
Learn to use the search feature of the site, most topics have already been covered in detail. If you need...
It isn't the unwillingness, it's the knowledge of how darned difficult it is. That's why we all say "buy Tom's OD, get bigger tires and turn your fuel up". For the A3 guys, they just don't have a lot of options due to their tranny.
Moving the transfer back is more than just the riveted...
The antenna pictured in post #6 is most assuredly mounted on a dropside bed, the yellow dataplate for dropsides and the hinges are clearly visible.
Have I gone crazy?
Charles Talbert at M-series restoration has a stellar reputation. I would definitely contact him. I don't have his web address handy, but if you google him, it should come right up.
I am beginning to do some work on the side. I could do a full restoration for someone, but I strongly doubt I...
You won't regret it-in a 5 (ish) day event we managed to:
Put together 106 trucks and 40+ military trailers
Take 39 trucks on a 20 mile convoy
Went offroading every day (and night)
Took up half a football field with swap meet vendors
A. That doesn't look bad at all to be 70+ years old.
B. Looks like someone has tried to mess with it recently-newish looking upper radiator hose and battery?
C. Man, no grass grows under that dually! rofl
5 years ago, I didn't own a dropside, so this wasn't an issue to me.
Now, things are different.
And I, unlike most everyone else, actually uses the search feature and found (most of) what I needed!
Just want a little clarification. The poster I quoted is still active on the...
Step 1: Purchase, rent, borrow or "acquire" 5-ton wrecker, by whatever means available. Pick up CUCV by front tow shackles and suspend from air. Lower tailgate.
Step 2: Spray purple stuff, or similar degreaser product, over entirety of interior.
Step 3: Purchase, rent, borrow or "acquire"...
Part of your problem may be that the deuce uses air pressure for it's wipers, not vacuum, so you may have the wrong motors. :p
