Quick update: pump installed and cab has been raised for the first time! I’m less mechanically savvy than most of you so I just repurposed the old hand pump metal covering and turned it sideways and bolted it to the storage box. It worked well and the pump has zero play when you’re using the...
Hey guys, quick update – traced the airline all the way back to the furthest back axle. There were two check valves similar to the one that Ron is highlighting above and the line hooked into the top switch which has now been plugged. All is good and ready to hook up the hydraulics. Small wins!
Hey guys, I’m still working on my hydraulic issue and have decided to put in Ron’s pump solution as my fix (partially inspired by the work, Invictus is doing to his build 👍). I have deleted the tire lift and have deleted the controller. I’m having one big problem in that I can’t find where to...
I watched this on YouTube the other day and seem’s he’s found someone who now is making LMTV hose kits.
The company was Superior Soobie and Imports: (503) 880-4084. Superiorsoobie.com (ask for Rick)
Hey Folks, just now getting back out to work on the truck today, day job getting in the way.
question: does the hand pump work for both the cab tilt and the wheel lower? As I’m testing the what’s working and what’s not, I didn’t know if the manual pump powers both functions.
To clarify, the reservoirs are full but nothing is happening after hand cranking. I’ve been checking to make sure the reservoirs are full after 5 mins of cranking each time.
Ok, pumped that sucker for 20 mins. Checked the reservoirs each time for fluid and no dice. There is no resistance on the lever and no different result when I use the air over hydraulics. Time to remove the line and check the pump…
Sorry, let me clarify. The hydraulics didn’t work prior and the previous owner bought a refurbished pump that was resealed and installed plus he replaced the latch seals too.
I definitely didn’t pump it for 10 mins. I’ll get back out there later this after when it cools off outside and start...
@Primussucks - pleasure to meet you! I love that there are some folks in the area. I just picked up this M1085A1R about a week ago and am working towards a 4 yr expedition truck build. I gave myself 2 yrs for the chassis prep and 2 for the habitat - let’s see if I actually stick to it. I’m in...
Ok, filled both reservoirs and nada. There aren’t any leaks, and there isn’t any pressure build up either when I try to use the manual pump. The air over hydraulics is chugging as it was before but nothing is moving.
@Third From Texas - tell me you’re kidding about the skull crushing action with @chucky ! OUCH!!
Thanks for planting that thought in the back of my head - pun intended😜
Small victories- found the reservoir and dipstick. It’s bone dry. I plan to head up to the auto parts store later tonight and pick some up. I read in another post that it takes 27 gallons, does that sound right?
Another basic question, where do I refill it? Can anyone point me towards a...
@Third From Texas - good to know!
When I tried the cab tilt yesterday it’s actually making the chug chug sound but nothing is happening. Is there a way to check the hydraulic fluid?
@fuzzytoaster - pleasure to meet you! - Great to hear there’s a local near by!
