If Tx forestry works at all like Ia the FEPP equipment at auction is going to be stuff DOD surplused off in the 80s or earlier. Perhaps some M880s, 6x6 gas. Stuff fire depts have been using (and used up) over for the last 20years. Now mechanically worn out/broken. Some usable bits and pieces...

Welding a 13' frame between the frt/rr dollys to carry a MEP009B (200kw) genset. Hopefully the long wheel base makes it easier/possible to back (at 14000lb likely will not be with pickup).

associated point on onan engine parts...
Picked up a very decent looking MEP-003 10kw diesel genset (Onan 4cyl air cooled) for our Fire Dept (on 3/4t trl). 550hr supposedly fresh from depot.
fuel tank was dry. Installed new 6tl batteries, drained strainer and both fuel filters, and added fuel. Cranked and started/ran for about 30sec...
Anyone have any driving/repair experience with the basic M915 series, in particular the M919 8x6. Particularily interested in comments on the trans A CAT D-7155 semiauto which is a bit unusual. I think the only mil vehicle application was the M915 series.
We're looking at aquisition of 2x...
