My bad. I re-read your original post including the trailer part. I guess I had a senior moment. Pretty long day for you and your friend. still a good score.
Nice little forklift. good score. I have a little "trucloader" model. it will only lift 1000 pounds, but turns on a dime and gives a nickel change. perfect thing for in the barn where you have to work around lots of equipment and junk. wheels and tires are too small to use outside on...
Mine does the scary loud bang sound. Its a sprague. I live in the mountains and when I have it in low range it does not like going forward then reverse then forward very much. it is also much harder to steer unless you really need to work on upper body and back muscles. In high range it is...
As a cautionary note, most otc spray carb cleaners are pretty harsh on things like O rings and rubber seals and gaskets. If used, afterwards its best to clean/rinse with the fuel your using that is normally in contact with these parts. Not always easy to do unless you completely disassemble...
Thanks Rustystud. Always value your opinion. Guess I will start checking into a modern airdryer upgrade. Air is pretty dry up here in the mountains so its probably not a giant problem so far.
What are your thoughts about the alcohol bottle hooked to the compressor on a deuce? Not worth getting back to working condition? I drain my tanks and the fluid is usually clear, sometimes a tiny amount of black fluid included. Hardly enough to stain the driveway.
H@#% Yes!!! Rat Fink forever! I would say the artist nailed it. If posters go up for sale please post something here so we have an opportunity to exchange some cash for cool!
also, can you take a magnet past the gear cluster into the bottom of the tranny case and check for foreign material. something may be laying down there you can't see from above. Tranny fluid is not so expensive that you can't just change it out. drain it into something that lets you look at...
does the shift issue stay the same whether the Transfer case is in high or low range? I assume the test you did with tranny cover off, when you saw 2nd engaging, was with engine off? Can you up-shift from 1st to 2nd in high range transfer and then into 3rd with engine on and moving forward?
I have a surplus army vise like that. I wanted to mount it on my deuce tractor behind the cab. It has a short deck and other than the 5th wheel the only thing there is the air line pogo stick. I can see a faint paint outline on the deck where a pioneer tool rack was mounted under the front...
Personally, I like hearing you talk about working on this stuff. For anyone who does not know, or rarely opens a gear box, this is hard won knowledge and I thank you for sharing it. I imagine these are stories similar to what my dad would have shared if he had the chance when I was a kid.
Rusty--I presume the mat is on the inside of the floor as opposed to below the floor. Did you then cover the Dynamat with a rubber floor mat? or similar that covers the entire floor? Did you also cover the inside fire wall and rear wall of the cab? Sorry for all the ???, just wanted to know...
