scouts...
More on the scouts shooting day. If any of you work with kids and shooting sports I built a tool that will help improve their experience. It does little to teach skills but it sure gives them a lot of joy. We had 100% tannerite hit (average age was 9) count because of the ground...

done
Completed the trailer just in time for the parade. Dropped it down ~7".
The parade went well but we had some no shows. Still a lot of fun.
Got to shoot with some Scouts this afternoon. Something about tannerite and stuffed animals is always a hit.

Parade on Sat...
As with most of my off-the-wall ideas.... this one was born out of necessity. We have a parade on Sat that kicks off our county fair. It looks like we will have more folks show up to ride than the 474 can carry alone. The only logical solution was to make a matching trailer...
I started the tracked trailer today. Will wrap it up tomorrow. I am:
1. Adding a cargo bed (deuce 12' bed)
2. Modifying the bed to fit between the trailer rails (sits too high)
3. Turning around the tracks so the tread is going the right way
4. Upgrading to alloy wheels to match the look of...

I am moving my xm474 updates back to this thread for continuity.

Ice...
The only ice here in South Texas is in my glass of sweet tea. I don't function below 70*.
Thanks Gerald. Your cutting tip was 24 kt gold. There is no "you" in this evolution. I was just a cog in the wheel of this conversion. A GREAT team made this possible.
We are building a...
check ride
I ran around in the track today. I drove to three bordering towns and the machine is doing great. It will run 40mph comfortably but most of the trip was spent at 25-30mph. Stopped at Sonic for a drive in lunch. Great fun. The rubber tracks are a big plus. Saw 4 Law Enforcement...
play day
Well today was a fun day. We ran the track and shot a lot of fun guns. It rained 2.5" yesterday. These tracks do not do as well in the mud as the steel tracks but they do OK. The burm was dug on Friday so there is a big hole next to it that we drove through. The tracks spin a bit...

The tracks are made by Soucy. The kit includes new drive sprockets, idler wheels, spacers and studs.
Here are some action shots I just pulled off of my camera. The last pic is of some of "Da Boys" that made this possible. Mr George is one of NASA's top go-to guys and Eric...
Sunday
I have a group of folks getting together this Sunday to run the new tracks and test fire the minigun. Fellow SS are welcome.

Brazoria County Fair Parade
The Brazoria County Fair Association parade is Oct 13. The fair kicks off after the parade so it will be a good time all day. Parade in the morning and fair all afternoon.
I am driving the XM474 in the parade. Brazoria County Fair Association

Done...
We still need to put the rails and tailgate back on but we are mostly done. I still can't believe how quiet it is with these tracks.
We signed up for our county's fair parade on the Oct 13. This machine will be full of kids/veterans in the parade.
Thanks again to all that have...
Both fit...
OK Folks... both tracks fit and we crawled it out under its own power. Quiet, Quiet, Quiet... is the best way I can describe it.
We will be done tonight. Won't make steak night before they sell out but will run to town for burgers tomorrow.

passenger side track on
We installed the passenger side track tonight and it went on. We will test fit the driver side tomorrow. We may not need the second cut....
Thank you Eric for working like a pack mule this weekend.

weldment
We started welding it back together tonight. Pics to follow tomorrow. Will be done with this section tomorrow. Just to be sure we will test fit the tracks (wishful thinking) then make the second cut on Saturday. It will be (at least) tacked on Sunday if not fully welded. Can't...
