Just remove the washer on the transfer case shift rod that automatically engages the front drive and you won't have any problems using reverse. You can engage the front drive with the switch on the dash if needed.
I thought about doing this. But, how much do you really think you are going to pull the trailer? In the 5 years or so I have had my M373A2, it has had maybe 3,500 miles put on it including when I picked it up.
My trailer already has a (never been on the ground) spare and I can buy quite a few...
I noticed a gear shift problem early on with my M929 being slow to go into reverse. It felt like the selector was not going all the way into the reverse position. I discovered that one of the 4 screws that go into the side of the shift tower right below the plastic bezel was too long. Shortening...
The weather this year was perfect. Maybe that was a matter of luck or related to the dates the rally was held. If the weather is better on average for these dates, keep them next year.
While it's nice to have the field to ourselves, I don't think we can expect any venue to turn away a paying...
Will changing the gears effect the trucks off road ability if that is a concern?
How much are you going to drive it every year? I would consider realistically, how many $ you are going to save every year, and how many years it will take to recoup your investment.
If you are going cross country...
Yes, that's an isolated ground alternator. The voltage should not exceed the regulator set point which is 14.8. I would give it about 0.20 volt variation, but 15.25 is a little high. It should also reach the set point voltage at idle if the battery is good. Check connections on the regulator...
It will have the insulated ground terminal/post on the back. There are pictures in the rebuild thread in my signature. Non-isolated ground units will have a bolt that screws directly into the case if there is a ground connection.
I'm not selling rebuild kits anymore but they are available. Search Delco 27SI on your favorite auction site. If you have an original isolated ground unit, don't give it away as a core. They are different from the current production units and can be rebuilt as a spare for the passenger side...
How much was your competitor's bid? You may be better off renting a large loader, or hoe and pay a local guy with a dump truck to move it. If your machine breaks, you may have to do that anyway to meet your dead line. Make sure any contract you sign doesn't leave you on the hook if you miss your...
The regulator set point is 14.8 volts. If the battery is good, you should read this voltage less than 5 minutes after starting the engine. Battery voltage before you start the engine should be about 12.7.
If the belt is slipping, the pulley will be hot.
I have one of the small 2kw generators with a Yanmar engine. The starter was bad when I picked it up so I replaced it with a 12 volt starter.
There is no battery charging circuit and no on board battery. There is a slave connector for starter power. I took a pair of jumper cables and put a...
Just disconnect the vacuum lines from modulator/regulator that is on top of the engine. One is from the vacuum pump and the other is from the transmission. Hook them together by-passing the modulator/regulator.
The transmission will now up-shift almost as soon as the truck starts moving. My...
Bypass the shift modulator that is attached to the throttle and plug the vacuum line from the vacuum pump directly into the line going to the transmission. This will make the transmission shift to third gear very fast. You can manually shift up through the gears on a test drive and verify they work.
My M929 had a 9 digit vin and a regular FL title. It had a perment antique tag. I sold it a few months ago.
I don't think any of my trucks with the possible exception of my M1028A2 had/have a 17 digit vin/serial number.
I have 2 H8 Everstart Platinum AGM batteries in my M915. These are what you typically find in the back of a Mercedes or BMW.
If you can fit them in they are a good deal. 5 year replacement and 7 year prorated for $138 each a year ago.
