One of the kids really thinks my deuce is cool, so I wanted to make a toy version of a military 6x6 to play with that scales with the Melissa & Doug wooden trucks and cars they play with. I chose an M813 for the template since that's one of my dream 5-tons. I mean, it's a really, really big...
While this is back to life, I suggest buying the appropriate pipe plug socket to remove the plugs. You're more likely to round off the plug's square hole if you try to use a socket drive
I posted a video on YouTube describing the process I developed to use a hot acetone vapor bath to smooth 3D prints made with ABS and ASA plastic. I developed this process while working on my smoke grenade control box blank.
Acetone vapor post-processing is complete. This box blank is done! :clinto:
EDIT: Please pardon the dust on the image. Apparently I have plenty of it around here 🤷♂️
I'm glad you made it home safely and didn't have any fires!
This reminds me of one time I drove my dad's 1953 M37 to a car show in the summer. When I got there, I saw that the side panel between the hood and the fender was wet. Turns out it was spraying gasoline the entire drive there through...
Hi there and welcome! I hope you find the truck you're looking for. I have a collection of TMs for that reason :ROFLMAO:
You mentioned you're a USAF aviator - can you share what aircraft you're involved with? When I was in high school I seriously considered joining the Air Force after...
Acetone vapor smoothing of ABS and ASA 3D prints hasn't been a science. However, I'm working on making it one since I'm not a fan of eyeballing stuff. I'd rather calculate parameters to get consistently good results.
I'm experimenting with a process that consists of a warm acetone vapor bath...
I FINALLY got the mounting plate to print without warping. It seems Polymaker ASA may leave a residue on the print bed that affects adhesion, unlike the eSun ABS I use. I had to wash the bed with dish soap to solve the adhesion problem.
The blank is functionally done! I have some...
I printed the box! It's my first time printing with ASA. Now I just need the mounting plate to stop warping...
I'm thinking about acetone-smoothing it to reduce the visibility of the layer lines.
Is there any concern about the torque rod overcoming the washer? I take it there isn't since the Canadian Army has done it just fine. It probably doesn't help that I don't have a clear understanding of how the rods work and what the rubber bushing is supposed to do.
I think I've got it now. Those measurements for the stickers and fillets really helped, thank you @Crapgame :)
This is a blank, so anyone who wants a box can drill their own mounting holes as well as holes for switches, buttons, whatever is desired! I do have pilot holes designed so that...
