Greetings folks. I'm starting this in hopes of sharing ideas and pics of how you outfit your SECM. I will post some pics of mine the next time I go home. I'm sure many of you set these trucks up for specific duty and it would be cool to share the info.
I stumbled across this and wanted to share it. They are all JPEGs so my suggestion would be to save them locally for future reference. Many don't apply to the CUCV but still nice to have for a GM truck enthusiast.

I often make typos that I don't catch until I post in a thread. Previously I could just click and edit the thread no problems. Now it won't let me. I have to exit out of the thread and then re-open it to be able to edit. Works OK, just extra steps that were never needed before. Was a change...
Just have to ask, did any of our members end up with the white M1031 out of Pensacola? She was sharp and air conditioned. Who ever had this truck really looked after it! Forgot to mention, with the buyer's premium it went for the premium price of $6325
So, member http://www.steelsoldiers.com/member.php?18545-rustyshakelford and myself found that we are both building CUCV wreckers and thought a thread on what we were doing and comparing notes would be fun. Attached is a pic of what I started with and a pic of the chassis cab rear axle complete...
I am looking into the cost and availability of bedsides from an M101. If you have something that might fit the bill, let me know. These are not to restore a bed but rather for a custom project.
Edit, bed bought in NOLA. Now looking for a ride to South Florida
. This new M1008 is baffling me. I can't find a glow plug card under the dash. Furthermore it has one of the early plastic relay controller assys under the hook. No resistor bank but I believenit was once there. The pink wire to the wait light has been cut and is wired to ground. The system...
Greetings friends. I have a 20 or so ft older car trailer that needa a ride from West Palm Beach FL to Dayton or even Cinci Oh. It's roadworthy and capable of hauling at least 4000#. It will be returning with my wrecker bed (hopefully). I will get a pic up either when tapatalk works or I get to...
<======= Please note the 3 amigos laughing in my avatard.
So last year, actually, going back to late 2012 I was working on a deal with ChevyC60 to trade him my M108 crane for one of his many M1010 ambulances. Well, in Feb this year the deal came about. My kids weren't too pleased with me...
Good day folks, Is there anyone of you fine members that might be able to pick up 14 Bolt Chevy truck rear axle and hold it until I can figure out a way to get up there? It's pretty close to the I95 / I295 junction in the Southside area. May be a couple of days before it's ready, sending a money...
Folks, I'm considering the purchase of a small wrecker boom that slides into the back of a pickup truck. Is there anyone that might be able to hold onto it while I find a way south for it? Won't commit to it until I can secure a ride and storage.
Looking at the feasibility of moving the listed trailer to the GA area or to the GA Rally in October. It's located in central KY near I75. I'm looking to purchase but need to secure a ride before I commit. Trailer should be roadworthy and under 1000#. Perhaps someone needs to move all their...
So this past weekend my 2 young sons and I took off on a 210 mile trip to a rally in central FL. My new to me M1010 hasn't left town since I've had it (about a month). Prior to leaving it had a little surging problem off idle. I almost cancelled the trip but after some prayerful...
I would like to give a huge thanks to Allen. Not only did he come through for me on the upper berth I was looking for, he said that he would rather me make a donation then pay him. If he approves I will be making a donation, in his name, to the Steel Soldiers Benevolent Fund on Friday...
Greetings Folks,
Acmunro has one of these upper berths for my ambulance. It's about 7' x2" and might weigh 10#. He's in Reynoldsville PA right off I-80. That's just over 100 miles due east of Youngstown OH or NE of Pittsburg. If I can get it to Dayton OH, or pretty much anywhere further...
This just closed today on an auction site today. Sold for $1332 +fees. I listed it with the CUCV because that is the closest category. Bob H has the Dodge version. Enough babble, here are the pics. Sorry, none of the back.
PS, If I had the money I would have bid on this in a second.
I am working on troubleshooting the spot and flood lights on the M1010. The only part of this covered in the TM is bulb replacement and fixture replacement. The wiring schematic shows a relay used for both the spot and side floods. Does anyone have an idea where this relay is located? I've...
Yup, hitched. Only problem with the CUCV ambulance is the fact that it has no hitch. In order to remedy that I took a nice receiver tube supplied by harleyhouse down to a friends shop and we got busy. First order was cutting a hole on the channel on the rear. Traced out a quick pattern and...
