It has the multifuel. From what I can tell that's the only shutdown. So far, I've just been stalling it out to kill it. Not ideal, but works for now. I was hoping it was just an adjustment, but didn't know. Figured I would ask those that were more familiar with it.
Just got my 1952 Mack M51A2 home this week. After new batteries she starts and runs. But when I pull the engine stop knob out it keeps running. Being new to this I don't know what "normal" is as far as how it should feel or how far it should move.
The first picture shows the engine stop out...
Thanks guys. I can't wait to get started getting her up to snuff. She was a brush truck before retirement. In service until 2 years ago, so most systems seem to be operational, but I want to go through everything to know it is good.
Made the trip to get her yesterday.
Went well. Pulled it home on a trailer. Only issue was a blown tire on the trailer about half way home. We got it fixed and made it the rest of the way with no further incedents.
I know you guys like pics, so here she is.
Thank you. I think we've got it covered. It's going to be a long week of waiting. I'm stressed and excited at the same time. Can't wait to get her home.
I'm afraid that the aluminum bed may not hold up to me adding a dump hoist. I've always wanted to get a deuce and put a dump conversion on. Not that I'm going to be using it commercially, it would just be handy for hauling dirt or rock for the driveway, etc.
I hope so. I'm trying to decide whether to try to find an original bed or just make it a shorty dump with a cut down standard bed and a spare tire rack in front of it.
Well, sorta.
I have been on here off and on for a while researching and trying to learn.
Thank you all for all of the information thus far and for all I hope to learn in the future.
So anyways, I finally pulled the trigger on a truck. Won the auction today. Hopefully pick up next week...
