Got my 803A with LTT-HC Trailer - Mods, Questions, and whatnot....

No worries. The power switch for the transfer pump is very well hidden. I removed the one that came on the pump and hid a remote switch to cut it on inside the generator cabinet.

Got my 803A with LTT-HC Trailer - Mods, Questions, and whatnot....

While the trailer is lowered a LOT it still needs a 7" rise hitch to be level on the little Blazer. lol The little Blazer handles it just fine though, even with a full tank. I figure its probably near 4000lbs with a full tank.

Got my 803A with LTT-HC Trailer - Mods, Questions, and whatnot....

In this shot, looking from the rear under the control panel and deck at the top of the belly tank. Fuel level gauge, 3" locking fuel filler cap, and the desiccant breather for the belly tank. Barely visible at the right is the fuel line from the dip tube.

Got my 803A with LTT-HC Trailer - Mods, Questions, and whatnot....

This one shows the modified electrical distribution box which now houses the fuel transfer pump. Not shown but for security I hid a switch inside the side door of the gen set that controls the power for the transfer pump. It is under the lip and is not visible at all, just have to known where to...

Got my 803A with LTT-HC Trailer - Mods, Questions, and whatnot....

So I forgot that I never posted any additional photos or updates. So this shows how I mounted the Goldenrod fuel filter. I had a pair of off road light rail mounting brackets laying around, so I used those over the pipe nipples with some aluminum straps to hang it. Bored two holes for the fuel...

Another way to lower an M1101/M1102

Sorry - missed this.... Yes. Also - mine tows great without the shocks. I have read others who have said pretty much the same thing.

    Very handy parts listing site

I've used this site for quite a long while for some GM vehicles. I have no idea who runs it. The HUGE plus is many of the online part sites, expecially GM, stop giving or showing part numbers for things that are NLA (no longer available). This does. Well I was poking about in the Mercedes...

How long do you store your diesel fuel

I actually just ordered a Goldenrod water filter for my custom trailer belly tank. Good to hear others are using that one too. :) I'm also using XPD All-In-One fuel treatment which I also read about in another thread on here.

Updated - MEP-803a Has arrived! (Formerly "On Its way")

Almost looks as though the vents are screened but hard to tell from the photo.

Got my 803A with LTT-HC Trailer - Mods, Questions, and whatnot....

With it lowered the deck height is now 27 inches. Tank is installed and still has a foot of ground clearance which is plenty for me. Leak tested it with water and put a coat of Duralux aluminum boat green paint on the visible bits. Will get a couple of pics tomorrow.

Another way to lower an M1101/M1102

Another way of going about it.... I did ditch the shocks.

Lowered and a shot of the tank in progress....

Got my 803A with LTT-HC Trailer - Mods, Questions, and whatnot....

Great info. I'll be talking with my welder who is building this out later today. Going to tell him we either need to reduce it below 119 or divider it into two separate tanks with separate fill necks.

Got my 803A with LTT-HC Trailer - Mods, Questions, and whatnot....

No pics but an update to keep this fresh for now.... The trailer is coming along. Went one step further than what I've seen in a couple of other threads where members have modified their LTT trailers to raise the axle up higher (in order to lower the trailer). As mentioned I did change it up to...

    Integrated Battery Chargers

I guess if your alternator is truly shot and not rebuildable you could simply disconnect it in place and leave it be. As long as the bearings are fine then without a connection it should not put any load on the belt other than the additional rotating mass. As far as running airflow that is an...

    Integrated Battery Chargers

My only worry is the amount of heat it will be subjected to in the engine compartment. Might not affect it but my worry would be longer term effects. Then again, in the middle of a hot summer day, it is not exactly cool in the control panel compartment either for that matter. I do really like...

    new-to-me MEP-802a

Another you can do is get some Chevy/GMC stock wheels for 2000-2011 models and put smaller tires on if you want to bring it down some and make it easier for towing a bit more level with civilian vehicles. I just did that on mine. Went with 30.6" high tires on stock 16" GM 8 lug steel wheels...

Optima Red Top Battery Premature Failure

Wait a month or two. Then take the other older one out and hook it up to something and just leave it on until it kills it. That is not something I'd generally endorse doing but if they support running two in series or parallel then their warranty should cover the set if one were to fail in my...

Got my 803A with LTT-HC Trailer - Mods, Questions, and whatnot....

And one more.... My solution for the side air intakes and bottom hole as I mentioned before was to install aluminum screen inside those. The top one I did not want to go that route as I felt that a finer mesh screen would be too restrictive (probably would be just fine though) but wanted to...

Got my 803A with LTT-HC Trailer - Mods, Questions, and whatnot....

Smallish update.... Got a pair of GM HD truck wheels (plain steel ones). Scuffed and rattle canned them flat black. Rust Oleum flat black with built in primer is more of a satin back (their industrial enamel flat black is much flatter). Found a pair of used BFG Mud Terrain KM3 in 265/70/R16 (10...
