Am I seeing the cross over tube gaskets in this kit? FPG TCS45554
Anyone know the diameter of the short hose between the pump and cross over tube?
Thanks.
So I ordered the ACDelco EP158, necessary hose fittings and an inline filter to go before the pump, and the blocking plate.
Since the tank has a sock in it do I need the inline filter? Is it going to cause any issues by installing it? I figure better to be safer than sorry.
My plan is to...
Thanks!
I was pleasantly surprised to find the capacitor was a simple unplug and plug in direct. That gave me low speed and park. Washer pump still pumps all the time. It's currently on a push button and can stay that way for a while. Will a rebuilt motor/pump possibly fix the washer issue?
Well looks like I get to work on the wipers today, why not it's snowing out. These trucks should come with a heated garage. LOL
When I purchased the truck about 9 months ago the washer pump was using an aftermarket pump and switch. If I hook the aftermarket pump up to the factory switch it...
My problem turned out to be the connection of the GEN 2 Bulb. Once I cleaned the contact area on the circuit board everything came to life.
I'm pretty sure the Ground to the Volt Meter is switched by the GEN 2 Relay. So you may have 24 volts from the terminal to a good ground. Do you have 24...
According to the TM's the original part number is 2232073. Is their a source to buy one? Cross reference to a parts store part? From what I am reading it should be DOT 5 brake fluid, is that right?
Thanks
Finding this thread very informational and hoping @Keith_J finishes the story. As my recently purchased 1985 M1009 is my first I have a lot to learn. This website has been amazing! Wanting to know how the engine likes to run and what I can do to keep it happy. Thanks.
I am probably as new to these trucks as you are. But, I found my dash cluster pin #7 was the hot lead too, and the wire color on pin 7 matched the hot wire color. So either the diagrams are wrong, or it depends on who put it together at the assembly plant and some are backwards.
OK I have been troubleshooting this all week. The information on this site and received from members is amazing. But one thing I had to figure out on my own. Maybe I missed it on here, so I’m sharing it now.
the GEN 2 exciter voltage was reading .2 and GEN 2 was not working. I traced all the...
Well thanks to a conversation with Popacon, I figured out the Voltmeter Relay and now know which one is which. Its all making sense. So now I am still trying to figure out why the GEN 2 relay has 12v on the one post, but does not have 24v on any other post. i thought this relay used the 12v...
GEN 2 is not charging Battery 2. So I began trouble shooting with help for the TM's on this site. Here is what I have found so far:
GEN 2 exciter plug, red wire has 24v, brown wire nothing.
Volt Meter was not working. Removed from dash and found the resistor on the back of the Volt Meter was...
Keith, or anyone,
Where is the GEN 2 relay and diode? I have three relays on the bottom of the dash right above throttle pedal. I assume one of them is the GEN 2 relay? Unless everything is very dirty the wire colors don't look right. One of them is a metal can and the other two are...
If you have seen any of my prior post you know I just got my first M1009. Drove it fro Ohio to New York last weekend. Well the GEN Gauge did not work when we picked it up from prior owner, and the GEN 2 light also does not come on. So today I did a lot of reading on here and did some testing...
Just thought I would give an update.
I replaced all 8 GP's with AC60G's. 12 degrees out and it starts right up! Now a prior owner had made short connectors to compensate for the difference in connector width and did a horrible job at it. Non-insulated connectors, lots of corrosion. Once we...
Hey buddy, I drove past Cooperstown Sunday bringing this truck home from Ohio.
After doing much more searching and reading it is looking like the GP resistor modification may be all I'm dealing with. Praying that is so anyway. No modification log from the prior owner.
I never thought of the...
Good question. If I see it right the red wire from the rear battery - terminal goes to a junction block and that has a red wire to what I believe to be the GP solenoid. Maybe this picture will help?
