    M1035A2 soft top

I'd get it home to make sure the top is in good shape. It appears intact from the one picture, but it also looks a bit weathered (i.e., not fresh). The trip home won't be kind to anything but the freshest of tops. With all this said, the M1035 tops can't be too common if you needed one...but...

Here I go again, only bigger this time. (M51A1 resurrection)

I have quite a few M39 and M809 series trucks with sprag t-cases, and I never had a problem. Never allow the truck to roll backwards while in a forward gear, or forward while in reverse. That causes that sprag to bind up and that is how they become damaged. A lot of people don't know how to...

Caution about Iron Planet/Gov Planet HMMWV's

I am unsure how it happens, other than poor record keeping, but old trucks come out much later than anyone would figure. I've seen gasser M543s (could have been an M62) come out in the last 20 years. I've seen M123 (diesel variants...not sure which model) tractors come out during the same time...

    REV overheating - normal?

I don't believe that is normal. It gets fairly hot in Maryland in the summer and, even while driving with the A/C on, my engine temperature does not go over 190 degrees or so.

    Cab Latch / Latching plate

There is definitely a rubber bushing in that spot. It probably eroded, as it did on my 1998 M1078. When I was looking, I could not find the OEM part, so I replaced it with multiple heavy duty large rubber fender washers. The swap seems to have worked out fine as they have been on the truck...

    Dual Jerry Can Holder Wanted

Unfortunatly, I can't help you with the request. But...I'd recommend changing the subject of your search so future people looking for (or having) something similar actually see your request.

    Skytrack 6000m troubleshooting?

What about checking with a local national guard base? I once found a mechanic there who would work on my truck on their personal time.

    M 1078 stake pocket posts.

I see at least two (one tan and one green) on eBay. The seller is taking offers.

What's the best way to get rid of the asbestos in an M934?

I am sure there are many here who would do it themselves, but I'd call in an expert and have them handle the asbestos removal.

Caution about Iron Planet/Gov Planet HMMWV's

It was GOVLIQUIDATION, but I once won a pristene looking M917. The description said RUNS, but there were no videos showing the truck running. Well, it did run. But, the bolts holding the flex plate were never tightened properly during its overhaul (I assume) as several were missing, some...

Caution about Iron Planet/Gov Planet HMMWV's

The real moral of the story is...auction trucks are a crap shoot. If you can inspect them, and/or you are sure they run well, you'll probably come out OK. But, I've gotten many trucks that needed a lot of work/$$$ to be made right. I've had a few where I was upside down once I was done. But...

I might be a little crazy – 4,000 mile M1079 recovery Illinois to Alaska

It sounds like you have a solid plan for recovery. I have a question on your tire choice. Why switch to 1400s (aside from road speed)? Most guys are switching FROM 1400s on their trucks, admittedly mostly on M939 series trucks due to the cost and scarcity of fresh 1400s. The stock tires on...

1st Post, Almost 8 Years to the Day

Bring fuel filters. You never know when one may clog and then you are on the side of the road. I'd bring them even if they were just changed. Also, bring a couple of gallons of coolant and a gallon of oil. I'd also suggest adding some Power Service diesel conditioner before you set out. I...

    M1097A2 build thread

Very interesting. It has been a couple of years since I won anything. Good to know. I wonder which states are issuing their tites now.

    M1097A2 build thread

I feel you did well in opting for the title. There are a few states from which they pull their titles. I know they go through Florida as I have gotten Florida titles in the past. I think they go through Arizona, too, but I am not positive as I never got an Arizona title from them. I seem to...

    New HMMWV owner here

I concur with TOBASH. I have never prepaid for a delivery.

    M936 Seized Fuel Cap

The threads on the fuel filler neck have most likely rusted and the cap won't come off. Use a chain wrench (a strap wrench with a chain instead of a strap) to loosen it. I have an NOS fuel filler neck if you need it, although you really don't need it. You can just install the fuel cap onto...

HMMWV Rolled on I75 North of Cincinnati

I am thinking the one occupant who was ejected must not have been buckled in.

    M818 Benmar Arctic Heater Installation

Looks very cool. I've had fuel burning heaters in trucks. They work great. What are you doing for defrost (or did I miss that)?

NHC250/M939A1 No oil pressure on startup

What about after market oil filters? Don't they make ones that don't allow the oil to drain back? I always kept my trucks stock, but I seem recall reading something in one of the threads about after market (spin on) oil filters. I hope I am not mistaken this for one of the M44 series threads...
