The time for me to make a purchase is getting close. I am currently looking at an AM model. Any pros / cons for the different manufacturers, or are they exactly the same?
thanks,

How are you guys getting insurange with progressive commercial?
I just looked under vehicles that they do NOT insure and it says:
"Military vehicles, such as a Pinzgauer or Unimog" :-x
I live in Kalifornia. We can't even use that for home defense. I would love to be able to use one of my EBRs for vehicle protection but it would mean losing my rights for the rest of my life.
When I can, I will move to a free state and buy an M2 to mount on top of the deuce, but until then...
I know they don't have keys, so how does one secure a deuce that is parked in front of the house? Will "The Club" work for this purpose or do I need something more?
Do people really mess around with MVs and if so, what do I need to know?
thanks,

Welcome
I am new here also. It sounds like you read the same post that I read on another web forum.
Now I must have one also. I decided I will buy from a private party rather than deal with GL.
good luck
I definitely don't want to start problems for anyone else. I am just thinking if cops are called, they would just run the tags and see that the vehicle is registered as commercial and move along.
Again I am not a legal expert.
Streets in my neighborhood are wide by most standards. Neighbors park and keep motorhomes on the street year around so I don't see why I wouldn't be able to park my deuce. I just want to make sure as far as the city goes I am all legal.
Any way around this?
12.94.010 Definitions.
“Oversized vehicle” shall mean any motor vehicle, boat or trailer, which meets or exceeds at least two (2) of the following criteria, exclusive of fixtures, accessories or property:
1. Twenty-three (23) feet in length; or
2. Eight (8) feet in...
When I get a deuce I will need to park it on the street. Will I be able to do this with historical vehicle plates once I get my registration and insurance. I have nosey neighbors that WILL call the cops and try to get it towed any way they can.
Anything else I need to know?
thanks

Edit
The...
Interesting...
I was planning on getting a basic truck in good running shape. Playing with it for a while to make sure it is something I can commit to. Then if so, upgrading it later on with what I want.
Now I will have to rethink my plans.
I am looking more for reliability, so it sounds like I might be better off with an A2.
Would a shop that works on CAT and other diesels be able to work on a multifuel, or do I need to find someone special for that?
Thanks for the honest input.
I was looking to get an A2 just because they seem to be the most common. Looking on GL an A3 just popped up about an hour from me. It says 11,000 miles "engine starts"
I really know nothing about the reliability of an A3 vs an A2. How is the auto tranny?
It doesn't say anything about centeral...
