Valley Rock,
The bed I'm building is not standard. There will be a plate laying directly on top of the frame rails at the front, and the transfer case PTO protrudes into this area. Stock beds have a void there, but mine will not.
I tried to find an example image but no dice.
Hey Valley Rock, no can do for me. I've actually run across a couple parts trucks with transfer case PTOs, but I don't have the under-bed clearance for one.
Since there's a good chance I could cause premature PTO winch wear with my plan and considering the cost of the aux transmission PTO, I...
Cattlerepairman, I may well end up going the hydraulic winch route. I have an 8k on another piece of equipment, so I could use it and just always carry a snatch block. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a decent parts truck, so if I find one with a stock winch then I have a bolt-on solution.
NDT...
I may be missing the obvious again here.
I have a front-facing PTO, but no winch. I'm in the market for one.
I have some hydraulic accessories I'd love to run off a PTO pump, but I won't have the bed clearance to run a rear-facing PTO (transfer case).
I could modify the PTO shaft to carry a...
Well that's a relief.
Would you say that the tires will actually travel above the bottom of the 4" C channel? The lower the load is, the better for me.
Fellas,
I hate to start a thread over something this simple, please delete this if I'm missing something stupidly obvious. I searched and I looked through the dimension drawings to no avail.
Can someone measure the distance from the top of their frame rails to the area directly over their rear...
Hi Barrman, unfortunately I'm not in a financial place to have a third truck.
Jbulach, good idea with the barrier block, but that does still leave some questions regarding weight distribution due to height and length.
Circling back around to my original question in the first post:
It seems...
I have a dolly I built to pull them the last rough bit, but I need road transportation. The dolly I built for moving them the last mile would make an inspector shit bricks.
The problem with anything I pull behind is getting it turned. These roads are tight.
Hi cattlerepairman,
I have to say I disagree with this. Complying with laws matters a lot to me, as I'm the one that will end up with a ticket. If it's the safest thing in the world but violates DOT regs, I'm not going to do it. From what I can tell, overhang is measured from the end of the...
Howdy folks,
I know this is going to get some resistance, I'm mostly asking for help from folks who have attempted similar things.
I need to move a 20' shipping container, tare weight 4,400 lbs, about 90 miles through some rough country roads twice per year. The contents are light (home...
If I were planning to ever mount this again, I would definitely consider truck bed camper jacks. One bed camper I recently looked at was pushing 3000lbs, so I bet you could find jacks with enough capacity. About 1000lbs each. You'd need to come up with a mounting scheme, but then it would be...
We're going to use the box as a kitchen on the homestead, since it's insulated it'll do well for water storage in winter too. It's built tough enough that it should hold up decent against the black bear around here, the windows even have mesh on them already too.
As for a different bed, I have a...
First, I'm writing to y'all with all 10 fingers, nobody got squashed!
I don't have much room (much less level surface) back in our woods. I parked Percival in the most level place I could find, then welded hooks on two 8" I beams. I hooked these onto the rear bumper/guards and planned to use...
Wow, this is a pleasant surprise... This is about 7 minutes from my folks place. If there's room I'll bring my deuce by, if not I'll ride my bike and look at everyone else's rig. See y'all in October!
It looks like NAPA kit UP 1926 is the right bore; I don't know if it will be the same length spring however.

I'm going to order one of these and compare it to stock. This might result in leftover parts, but if you just want the original...
