Got mine titled as a tractor trailer so the people at the dmv just pushed it thru no questions asked. Been about 6 months now no problems had a few cops asking me about it while I was working on it never even asked for my name. I did read that and honestly it's making this process harder. I want...
That's what I thought I am planning on going to the dmv after the inside is finished so I can get it re titled as an RV I'm really hoping they don't do an inspection. Some people have told me they will other have said they won't. Either way hopefully I get someone at the dmv who doesn't really...
I had the same idea. We are cutting part of the box to allow a little more articulation of the trailer tongue we also are moving the tent back 2 feet and making a trailer storage box for the front. This should help when off road.
I actually have it registered in Colorado right now as a tractor trailer. It is plated and passed emissions. The question is do I get the title changed to an RV or just keep it as it is.
That is exactly what I am using I just don't like hauling around without having trailer brakes. So I kinda am just using it to move around the street until I get the brakes figured out.
After another month of wrenching we have found a few more problems. Our middle passenger tire has a small leak and since the ctis system still doesn't work we have to manually pump the tire up every few days which takes a good amount of time. (I have a spare just haven't installed it yet)
We...
Right now the box has a 3in rail that holds it across the entire frame. I have added a 6 temp mounts to hold while I build the box out. The mounts on it are L brackets that have 2 large bolts holding it down. This does give the brackets a little movement up and down but is probably not our final...
Already added a sheat of metal just didn't have a photo. We have the plate spaced off 1in and has a little scoop out the side. There will also be a single fan installed to the back of the fan (towards the frame) to help move air when driving slowly.
The frame as it sits is 5in above the wheels over the next week that will be changing to about 12-14in of space. This is the rough draft, basically the template for me to build on. It won't hit a dirt road for another 2 months while I fix problems like that and upgrade other parts.
I have slightly changed the objective of this thread to be more of me showing what I am doing plus if people have any tips or advice. Can you help me make sure this is in the right place. Or should I create a new form?
Sorry for such a late post to everything. Over the last couple months I have been going ham to turn this truck into a badass camper. I got the frame extended 4 feet at the back. (This does reduce my departure angle to about 25°, I am working to increase that hopefully by 5-10°)
After I got the...
The previous owner said he resealed it and was on top with a hose spraying it all with no leaks. So I was super excited to not have to deal with that. Then the first time it rains it's a full on hurricane in the cab!
Well the turret hatch definitely leaks haha its been on my to do list. I will say for a truck that's over 20 years old and got driven by 19 year olds who were cracked out on no sleep and energy drinks. It is a very nice looking truck. I mean it has its bumps and bruises but it still makes me...
Hello everyone hope this is the right form!! This is my second post so please bear with me.
I recently purchased a 99 m1088a1 that I am turning into a camper. I have a few problems I'm trying to figure out and hope to get some help. The first problem I am having is my blinkers are intermittent...
After walking around the truck a little I think I will just be relocating it in the frame. I'm hoping I can still use the stock fans as my wallet keeps getting thinner haha. Today was my day to start wrenching on it and pulling stuff off but I got stuck on the highway for a few hours as my tools...
Hey Chris thank you so much this is exactly what I was looking for!!! Fingers crossed I can get this done before the end of next month. Lot of late nights coming up!!
I was thinking about the departure angle and original I had it planned that I would have about a 40° departure angle I think I will be slightly less than that after I am done. The problem is I already have a box that I have converted into a camper and I really like the layout I did. I also am...
