    Versions of HMMWV Tachometers

There are certain tests as well as techniques such as BTM ( Brake Throttle Modulation) that require you to rev your engine at a specific amount of revolutions per minute, that is when an RPM gauge comes in handy.

    Are these batteries any good...?

well... as it turns out my starter was defective, I replaced it and now it starts without hesitation, it's been more than a week. My volt meter inside the car reads 24.9V while waiting for the glow plugs and 28.5V while traveling at 40-50 mph (sometimes 28.2-28.3V)

Am I tachometer ready...? (Like Plug&Play)

MgFray, thanks for getting back, I was actually thinking that if a "canon" tach would work, it'd probably be the easiest quickest solution because the installation would require some sort of a metal bracket and screwing the canon's locking ring in place and that's it, vs. having to connect 5...

    Are these batteries any good...?

Greg, it says that the size is 10.5 X 11.25, while the OEM is 10.5 X 10.0 about 9 and a qtr high, the 11.25 is the size that concerns me.... what do you say...

I did as I said in post #1 they read 12.87V and the other one 12.75 so about a .1V difference

    Are these batteries any good...?

Got it, in any case the box I used has a "Mode" specifically designed to start a 24V vehicle w/o batteries at all. If this batteries fail the load test do you have any recommendations for new batteries that are not astronomically expensive....? My consideration is that the OEM batteries need to...

Am I tachometer ready...? (Like Plug&Play)

this is my situation by the area where you'd normally see a tachometer and I would like to install one but don't know if the canon connector dangling in the picture is what I need since most of the pictures for tachometer I have seen on eBay have 5 wires or so, can anyone chime in...?

    Are these batteries any good...?

Lately I have been having a hard time starting the engine, the first turn of the "Run" will produce 1/2 turn of the engine (1/2 a Jiggy).... let it rest for a second or two and at 2nd try one full turn or even two and then nothing, on the third try I get 3 "jiggy Jiggy Jiggy" (Will Smith style)...

Eliminating 1 LB of rotating mass = 8.4 LBS of static mass. Let's upgrade TIRES

That sounds like a pretty good deal, the rim style would not be my choice but that is a very good deal nevertheless, I sure would have purchased those tires if I read this before purchasing https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BJ76DD3V?th=1 Walmart does not specify the amount of plys on those...

Anderson connector attached to heavy gauge wires passenger side seat...???

Yes Retiredwarhorses, very true, the 14V tap I believe is going to the 12V GPS speedometer and if you notice all the way at the top of that picture you will see the A/C compressor pulley being the one that forces the skinny serpentine belt (I don't know who made that choice (I just work here :) )

Anderson connector attached to heavy gauge wires passenger side seat...???

Coug, YOU WERE RIGHT ! Upon further review at the "Instant Replay" I found the bolt for the ground totally loose and the ground strap not even connected, I am even wondering how I did not get some smoke do to the on/off contact at the generator. I put everything back and later on when I go home...

Anderson connector attached to heavy gauge wires passenger side seat...???

Coug, thanks for the explanation, I was already thinking that I had to bring the old 400A to get rebuilt somewhere but what you say makes sense, a 200A generator should be plenty of juice for a Humvee with basically no heavy duty accessories or aux equipment in it. When you suggest to check...

Anderson connector attached to heavy gauge wires passenger side seat...???

Well as it turns out a week or 2 into the 200A alternator downgrade, in spite of the fact that my volt meter inside the car reads anywhere between 27.9 and 28.3 (at higher RPM) my batteries are not charging very well in fact this morning it took 3 trys to get my engine going, the first two the...

Eliminating 1 LB of rotating mass = 8.4 LBS of static mass. Let's upgrade TIRES

For sure no tire that size can be light but if I get this tire vs. stock and an alloy rim I have definitely shaved off a hell of alotta weight.
