Hard to shift OUT of 3rd.

You do not have to pull the transmission to get the shaft out. I took the main shaft and gears out from the top. I followed the steps I found by searching... sorry I don't have the exact link right now. It wasn't too difficult. The only specialty tool needed is a gear puller. I did not see...

Hard to shift OUT of 3rd.

I got the sleeve removed from the main shaft today. I forgot to take any before pictures but here are a couple after pictures. To recap… The sleeve would not press off of the main shaft so I decided I had to cut it off. My first thought was to put use a mill to cut the sleeve. Today, I...

Hard to shift OUT of 3rd.

My tranny felt like the shifter was stuck in thick mud going into 3rd. Then it started to feel that way coming out of 3rd. Then it got worse! I took the top off the tranny and found out the shifter mechanism was working fine off of the tranny. I kept digging and now I see that the splined...

    Oklahoma MV clubs?

The Oklahoma Motorpool meets the first Monday of the month. Most of the guys do seem to have older vehicles. I was invited to join the group when one of the members met me and my M35A2 at a Blue Star Mothers event. I have always felt welcome. Tomorrow we will be at a Medal of Honor Day...

    Passenger Seat Back Recovering

I purchased a set of seat covers from a member of this site that were made like the originals. The covers went on just like the old ones came off. The back has a steel loop that the cover ties around. Then the pad, cover and ring sort of snap into pockets at the edges of the diamond tread...

Norman OK Christmas Parade HELP NEEDED!!!!

I didn't see a post for the Convoy but I got the PM. If it's a go I plan to bring my M1009. It's probably not what the Blue Star Mothers want to ride in for a parade but I wouldn't mind running as a support vehicle. A parade and a Convoy in the same day sounds great to me.

    Help deuce leaking fuel

My manifold heater pump started leaking a week ago. Fuel made its way from the top middle of the engine on the passenger side down to bath the differential before dripping on the ground. I didn't get the pump fixed but I did get the fuel supply line plugged by putting a plug in the pump's fuel...

    M1009 Transmission

Messing with the VRV fixed my late shift problem that developed a couple of days after I got my M1009. I took the VRV off the truck worked the cam and follower a bit then blasted it with PB Blaster. After blowing it out, I put it back on and now it shifts fine. There are a bunch of posts...

EVENT: D-DAY Adventure Park wants your feedback!

It looks like I can make it. My current plan is to arrive around noon on Saturday with my M35. :driver: Edit... Pre trip inspection revealed a leaking front axle seal on the M35. So I'll be bringing the M1009 instead. It's good to have options!

From the CUCV FAQ Article... :) Rear main seal replacement without removing engine Autozone rear main ~ $22 Autozone oil pan seals ~ $12 Here are the steps I took: Jack up front end frame, to raise frame slightly off axle. Even an inch will help. Drain oil, remove filter. Unplug batteries...

EVENT: D-DAY Adventure Park wants your feedback!

Sounds very interesting. If a guy had a choice to bring an M35A2 or an M1009, which should he choose to have the most fun on the trails? I don't know if I can make the event but I am working on it.

    Substitute for milspec BLACK

I painted my muffler with high temp flat black and was surprised how closely it matched the camo black. I have touched a few spots up with it since and always found it to be a good match.

    Shock Absorber question

Years ago, I was an engineer for one of the big name shock manufactures. To answer your specific question, yes if the end mounts and the stroke of the two shocks are the same then yes they could be interchanged. The valving inside the shock could easily be different giving you poor control or...
