Ok I think I'll look for a M54A2 in good shape with a winch and if I can't find one ill go for a M35A2. Because the more I think about it why not just get a 5ton? Everyone has a deuce haha plus as much as I will probably drive it mpg wont matter much.
That makes pretty good sense. Here a few questions what is the general MPG of the 54 with an lds? I understand the deuce is about 8-10 on a good day correct? I have pretty good avalibility to WMO WVO etc(why I want a multi) does MPG change much running alternate fuels?
Also I've been looking...
cool I did not know that.
so it seems everyone thinks a deuce would be a better choice for me. Why do you think so? Is it better at something as compaired to the 54?
Thanks for the heads up, a few years ago a looked at a deuce with an LDS the had the FDC bypassed for $4300 in great shape. I should have bought it but oh well. Also the FDC can be put back into service correct?
also I agree power steering on a 19,000+ lbs truck would be nice. What are your...
Hello all, after years of reading and looking and learning I have finally narrowed my MV search down to 2. The classic M35A2 or the bigger brother M54A2. I want a multi fuel so the 800 and 900 series was out for me and a manual trans is more than a must have. I understand the multi's are low on...
Well guys as promised I didnt leave you out in the cold... Totally....
Im sorry that's the best picture I could get because I didn't want stop the car and take a look because of property issues that I'm not about to get into with the owner. Like I said earlier they are very private and as I...
I won't trust me. And don't forget "they" not "it" haha I can see 2 from the road and I know there's a few more there too, along with a couple old farmal A or B's maybe I don't remember anymore.
well I didnt get a chance to take any pictures today. Tomorrow morning I plan on going out there.
and Flingarrows, thanks for the generous offer but honestly there is no way I could get one of them, I can dream though.
Haha ok I'll see what I can do, I might be able to run out before work tomorrow and grab a few shots from the road but I'm not going in any closer until I have someone else with a closer relationship to the owner. and that might take awhile guys so dont hold your breath.
Hmm ok I might have to actually take a look at these. Say one has a "good" hull as in not rusted through, what would be a going price for something like that? How about one with a bad hull?
Ok although I do no have the cash, place, or most of the equipment to even attempt a restoration on a dukw, I have to ask. How far gone is too far? I ask because I recently drove by a spot close to my house that I forgot has at least two dukw's but if I remember its more like 6 or 8. there in...
I searched and only found one yard in Rolla, is there any more? I don't have a MV yet but I like to look at all the green iron and hey a sweet deal on a deuce would be nice. I'm going on vacation starting wen, going from peru IL down to Joplin MO and have plenty of time to stop and check stuff...
It seems that alot of the trucks in your pictures have yellow/orange "safety" lights mounted on them is this a euro/german law or.....? I'm just wondering because i'v only seen a few with those type of lights here in the states.
By the way you guys have some nice trucks over in autoban(hope I...
Oh, I knew it was ment for the 5 ton, but I also thought they started replacing the ldt with the lds. So basically it's pure luck if you get a truck with an lds?
this has probly already been covered at one point, but i couldnt find anything, so... does anyone know a timeframe wen the gov. started putting the LDS in deuces instead of the LDT? for example would a truck that was built in the mid to late 80's(without a rebuild) have a better chance of...
That is exactly why I would go back and spend ALOT more time looking at it than the 20min my father had before he had to leave. Also if I go back and look at it I plan on asking the guy these questions(of course I will also test drive it, check mileage/hours etc etc):
Is it a gl truck?
Do you...
