The batteries could very well have been low and it was cold as a witches tit. I will charge them with 2-chargers. Start with the simple stuff. I tend to fix stuff until it’s broke🤣🤣

Yes it is the older style. It looks like it’s moving fully but it must not be

It moves towards the flywheel as it spins normally. Just not engaging far enough maybe. Something could be holding it from going all the way. It way below zero. Maybe just binding or hard grease holding it back. I couldn’t see how far in it goes.

Ok it seems it engages fully with the solenoid into the flywheel but just spins not spinning flywheel. I tried forcing pivot arm with a broom handle but it won’t move further. Not sure what’s going on yet. Will need to look into it next time. I guess best way to describe is the starter turns...

Rick I am searching for the cold weather slide on the tm but haven’t come across that. Genny is 300 miles away ATM. Is it one of the intake tubes going to the lovers? I must rotate

I did open the shroud and no nests before startup. And as it was running I used a big blower to clean fins. They are rusty. Gave it a good visual inspection and after initial 6 hour run loaded, the louveres were open maybe 1/8”. I could rest my hand on each valve cover. I feel good about how...

Thankyou scooby. I did see that starter wire write up and will do that also. I really can’t believe it runs as good as it does after years of sitting. A lot of seeds and whatnot came flying out on startup. DB

I recently purchased a 1982 mep003a for $1200. I took it to its off grid home 3 weeks ago, checked the oil, hooked up 2 batteries and fired it up. Beforehand I read most of the TM’s(important stuff) and searched mep003a on this site and read everything I found. White smoke comes out of the front...

Well on my last attempt at starting it the starter won’t engage flywheel -3 degrees. I suspect starter lockout. And since I fell off a table hanging my gator hide on the ceiling and breaking 3 ribs I couldn’t bring the genny home this trip🤦🏻‍♂️. It was more dangerous killing the thing than...

Recently bought MEP003a 1982 year and took it to my office grid shop in northern Wisconsin two weeks ago. Hasn’t been run in years, I installed 2 batteries and it fired up at 30degrees. Ran it for over 24 hours cycling the old fuel out. Going to bring it back home to SE Wisconsin and give it...
