It seems to me that if I have power going into the S1 switch I should be getting power out, unless it's a defective switch. I believe that S1-7 is the terminal for the starter. Am I correct?
I saw that info on the generator's side panel but I wasn't sure what 'common' meant. I'm not an electrician: though I have done a considerable amount of electrical work. The company claimed that it was the correct part. I posted a couple more photos below.
This is a new (to me) machine. (It is a 1997 model.) This machine has very few hours on it, but was stripped for parts. I replaced several parts including the S1 switch because the original switch had been removed. Here is a Picture of the relays.
I've been working on a MEP 802a and I can't get it to crank from the S1 switch. The engine will crank from the Dead Start Switch. The fuel pump runs when S1 is in positions 3 and 4, preheater works in position 1, but it won't crank in the start position. I believe that S1-7 should be hot when...

Yes. I downloaded them from this site. the wiring table was a tremendous help in replacing the switches. The wires had been snipped and I had no idea where each wire was supposed to go.
