Don't forget about the filters on the bottom of the fuel pumps. I would run the fuel pumps with the line off the injector pump for a few minutes to make sure there isn't a slow restriction.
Every generator owner needs to have a kill a watt meter to verify voltage/hertz. at generator or in the house when the generator is running. Here is a link for one at menards...
I followed the link a few years ago that strycnine provided and it works ok. Seams If I remember right it does reduce the capacity of the generator though. I also have a pic of it on this thread. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?150623-Mep-016D-high-voltage
My m1009 makes the sound of buzzing bees after starting. I grab the air cleaner housing and it goes away, even though everything is tight. The noise goes away after the engine warm up enough to kick the high idle solenoid off
My glow plugs started the fuzz/flutter noise after I did the resister bypass, no manual button, usually 5 to 10 seconds after I start the truck, but still works good.
Finally figured what I did wrong I hooked up the voltage regulator to TB1 and TB4. It should be TB1 to TB 3. Also pictured is the configuration to get 120/240. Hope this anyone that has problems.
I did switch the SX460 with second spare with the same result. I did check line to line and was getting something around 340 volts. I did check the reference on TB1 and TB4 on they were high but cant remember what they were. Will check tomorrow and let you know.
A couple weeks ago I pulled my genny out because I haven't ran it for a few weeks. Started right up and noticed that the volt gauge read high. 175 volts. Confirmed this with my multimeter. So I figured that the voltage regulator was bad and I have bought a couple of the SX460 regulators so it...
You can also cut the crimps off the hose fittings with a hack saw and find a hose that fits over the barbs and use worm clamps. Ive done this a few times. But not for sure if this will work in your case.
Ive converted my mep 016a a couple years ago to electronic and still runs good. The only issue I had was the lack of instructions. Did some searching on the web and TMs to figure it out. Seams that one of the coils needs to be flipped upside down and a couple wires reversed or something. Its...
Thanks for the response. I thought about using plastic tubing but on reading about the tech flex, when you heat it, it shrinks somewhat around the wires, making somewhat a waterproof seal.
I was looking at Jimc's thread on the Mep 003 teardown and noticed that he installed tech flex tubing over the old wiring harness. I thought it looked nice and so I wondering if anyone else has done this and the how hard it is to install. And how you finish the ends and branch wiring coming the...
I Called John during the week as I had no luck on the weekends. I think runs a machine shop and that's his main business and the phone will ring there. He usually answeres e-mails also. Honest guy and good to deal with. There is not many places that send the invoice with the goods and you just...
