Yeah, O.K. - THANKS!
I am glad to have a better understaqnding so I don't waste time and money on something that won't work...
And you know how a topic can start out as one thing and change to another.
These guy's on SS got right at the heart of the issue quick. I was wanting a generator and...
If you do buy surplus power, make certain that you know the frequency. A $400 60WK genset in 400hz is $400 you would wish you had to buy a store genset.
What exactly does this mean?
400hz?
Once you have the SH__ hit the fan, the generator will be useless. But for instinces when the power goes out and your sump pump stops pumping flood water out... PRICELESS!
O.K.
60Hz... Anything else I should look for?
I recently watched civilian generators like this in use powering big dehumiifiers etc.
Most of nieghbors were flooded last month here in Nashville.
I also want to be able to run my welder etc....
Thats what I want it for, my house in an outage.
I don't know much about them except they can be bought cheap and seem to be big power...
I am not planning any road trips with one, just would pull it home.
Who does know about these generators?
That 18,000 pound load was the outer limit for my set-up. But, it was either going to make it or kill me when I moved from california to tennesse, and I made it.
The gen set looks half the weight.
I actually took 2 leaves out to soften it up...
AND it is a small block.
Don't let that fool you though, it is a crate motor that is fully tuned up with all the tricks. Pulled that 18,000 pound load from california to tennessee NO PROBLEM on every grade!
And people hear it and always think it...
I am wanting to buy a mobile generator. I will pull it with my 3/4 chevy.
I have pulled 18,000 plus before in my box trailer- But the trailer has electric brakes on three axles...
