Your choice would definitely be easier. Probably a lot cheaper too. 6BT are not cheap. Unless you can find an old school bus or truck someone is getting ready to take to the crusher. Then there's still the expense of your time to pull it out, make sure it's not going to come apart the first time...
Yeah started trying to do some research and come to find out it’s and army air field that the truck was supposedly at. But the airfield was given to the city before this truck was ever made. Not sure what to think now.

Hello All,
Haven't been here in a long time, but I recently purchased a 1974 Chevy C10 half ton short bed. The PO told me that it used to be an air force truck at a local air base and I was wondering if there was anyway to track this information down? I would like to repaint it at some point and...
Thanks guys, That's exactly what I was thinking. I'm used to working on late model tractor trailers which don't require alot of maintenance per say. Just make sure you don't have any air leaks coming from any of the hoses and your G2G.
I know what you're saying about the park brake not being able to stop the truck. I never really figured it would do much good unless you were going really slow. So basically as long as you keep it maintained there shouldn't be a problem.
Lately I've been doing alot of reading on the brake system of the deuce. From what I've read the biggest worry of the brake system is the single sircuit design and losing all braking power in the event of a failure. My question is this: Has anyone had a complete brake system failure while...
If you don't mind me asking, how much did those wheels cost ya. Sorry if this has already been said. It's late and don't have time to read all seven pages. Cool looking truck. Wishing I could do the same thing with duals in the rear.
Trying to keep up with all these numbers has my head hurting :lost:. Is there somewhere that shows what tire sizes equals what tire diameter and width?
I work with a maintenance mechanic for the national guard and he has personnally seen a deuce run backwards. He said that it sounds different but will happen. He also said another soldier forgot to put oil in an engine while doing an oil change and ran the engine for 5 minutes or so. After an...
First let me apologize for not having an avatar, haven't gotten around to it yet. Too busy reading about all these awesome rigs. My question is with the turbos on the multi fuels. Did the C and D turbos come on rigs for certain years models or were they all mixed up just depending on what was...
