Well, we went ahead and got some gently used 395s and threw them on. Truck rides a lot smoother, quieter, better speed, and looks even better. For everyone who is interested, our city will be putting the lot of 14.5R20s up in an auction wihtin the next few months. About 1/2 of the tires are...
So to follow up on this post, pretty much everywhere I have tried calling is out of the 14.5 tires with the exception of the European tires mentioned in this thread.
I am writing to see if anyone else has had any luck with the 395's and what risk I am taking by putting those tires on our...
Augi: Thank you very much for the explanation. Very well written and much appreciated!
emmado22: Unfortunately, it is a pretty good possibility that we may have to as we have flooding here pretty bad at least every year to every 2 years. Usually when this happens, no one can get to the...
These vehicles have less than 1000 miles on them and appear to be brand new. We will be inspecting them prior to accepting them. I know about salt water and generally stay away from vehicles operated even near the coast, however, these particular units are, by far, the nicest ones I have found...
Our department is looking at a few HMMWVs on DRMO. Our dilemma is that some of the very clean units have the deep water kits installed and others have the winch installed...of course we can't find any that have both.
Is the winch on the HMMWV like the M35 in that it is PTO driven, or is it...
Last time we went there, we drove our happy butts 3 1/2 hours to Wharton only to find out the tires were dry rotted and cracked to the point they were not serviceable. I will call them again and see if they have any new ones.
EDIT:
I just spoke with Carl in Houston and he said they didn't...
Just to update this thread, we were only able to get 1 tire from Gensco, the others were not of good quality. While 1 is better than 0, still kinda sucks because I have 2 more I need to replace in the near future. When we do the tire swap am I going to need a new O-ring for each wheel? If so...
We have a specialty vehicle wrap company that does our patrol vehicles that uses a different kind of sticker that I have never seen before. I will do some research and let you know.
Just wanted to share our photos of our M35A3 finally prettied up a little (as much as they can be!). Still don't have our lights on other than the remote spot, but will post more once that gets done as well!
Thanks so much for the input everyone! For those of you who have posted about us not driving the vehicle often, you are correct, although we do fire it up and let it run at least every other week and drive it around at least once a month (usually more). I have found that if you don't use...
Forgive my ignorance, but what are the specifics to the 395 tire? Outside of the extra speed (how much would you think I could get?), what are the benefits? And I assume they are 700 bucks a piece? Wowzers.
I have reviewed the other posts about M35A3 tires, but was wondering if anyone knows where we can find replacements at? I am trying to start my search now as some of the tires are showing dryrot on the sidewalls and I want to begin the process now.
