Got an answer from Ouverson. He's torquing them to 110-130 and if he replaces them with ARP studs, 160. I went 130-140.
That 300 would twist the heads right off I'm pretty sure.
I've been using this as a guide to torques:

300 ft-lbs seems a lot for Grade 8 9/16 bolt?
I'm getting a different spec from these sources...
ARB says to use factory spec. Can't find a spec for this in a Rockwell. Can't find it in the TM's for the Deuce either.
They seem to be grade 7

9/16 shank...
I'm not sure if I should put this in the deuce or drivetrain section. I removed my center section to change out a side gear and found past evidence of water sitting in the housing for what must have been an extended period of time and some pitting on the bullgear. It runs smoothly and there...
The rods are 2" OD 1" ID. Kinda beefy.
The housings are 1/2" Chrome Moly plate, 4" tube 1/2" wall CM with CNC machined mounting plates. Only set of these axles made.
I don't get how that cover works... Isn't there a bearing on both ends of that pinion shaft when both drive flanges are in place? This cover gets rid of one some way? Does anyone have a link to whoever makes that cover and how it works? I'd love to get rid of one drive flange and it's seal...
Scott, yes, they're custom housings. 4-inch-diameter 0.500-wall chrome-moly axletubes that bolt on to a 1/2" chrome-moly plate center housing. The centersections are the 2 ½-ton military centers with Detroit Lockers and the original 6.72 gears. The outers of both axles are F-450 components...

Here's a picture of my third member installed in my custom slightly different housing:
The housing does not have a conventional drain. It fills in a tapped hole in the mounting plate of the third member. You can see it off to the right in the picture....
How high should the oil level be to...
I should have done it. I don't care if it would have taken $1000 worth of gas to bring it home. What an adventure that could have been.
Instead, I've joined the 7.3 powerstroke crowd. Boring.
That thing looked beautiful and perfect in every way!!!
Seems like it went for a steal with 700 something hours and 7000 something miles. Even the tires looked new. Drove in too!
I'm already suffering from why didn't I bid-itis...
That's a guillotine, probably like a couple of the ones shown here. I'm thinking it should be attached directly to the incoming air side of the turbo. It's subjected to less heat there and could be done with silicone turbo boost clamps. This also cuts down on the number of possible air entry...
