Is there a way to replace throttle shaft seal on vacumn switch side without tearing the pump down so far like in your VW link? Being new to this diesel stuff, that torn down pump looks scary to me. Thanks
Are the seals ( o-rings ) a straight forward swap out? I'm assuming the IP doesn't have to be taken apart and can be done with common tools. Does the kit come with instructions and do most auto parts stores like NAPA carry them?
The leak from the IP is coming from the throttle shaft on the vacumn switch side. Would that be a rebuild or just maybe some new o-rings. Wondering what kind of $$ i'm looking at before I decide on this vehicle. Thanks
Looked at a 1009 to buy but having second thoughts after seeing IP leaking badly. Want to know if that leak would cause a hard starting issue (drawing air in system). It started and ran for about 2 seconds and died out. After cranking 2-3 mores times it fired up. Thats when I saw the fuel leak...
I'm sure I have enough posts for a classified ad but it kicked out my classified saying I hadn't met the five post minimum. My profile says 11 new post alone and a 42 post total so whats up?
Cool Project! Hope it goes well. I'd like to do that myself. Where did you get the tilt column from? Did you leave the stock type turn signal/wiper control on it?
Thanks for clearing that up for me. I finally got them off here and into my 'puter. If you were going to get a hardcopy of them for general use, which would be the most useful to have?
My mistake on the Autozone. It was Advance Auto. I'd called Advance 2nd as Autozone said their computer system was down. The price is for a "j" code 6.2 because I asked him twice to make sure of the $$ The Accurate Diesel site I saw on the web was not in Fla. I suppose they have multiple locations?
Wanted to ask this question in case/whenever I need to replace the IP. Will a Autozone or parts store IP for a J code 6.2 eng. work with these CUCVs? I'm sure this has been discussed before but I want to know for sure.
There's also several philips head screws that have to be removed along with door lock knob. A screwdriver or one of those door clip tools to pop out the two panel clips. Then pull out and lift it up. Pull out to clear door handle. My 1008 had dent in passenger door also. While I was in the door...
jr4jc, if you don't find one to buy in TN. I have one here in NC I'm looking to sell so I can buy a different MV. Just PM me for info if you become interested.
Warthog- GM changed the part that goes with #10456116. It now lists some sort of brake control part instead of a solenoid. I'll look on the site some more. If you find something let me know and I will do the same. Thanks
How much vacumn should be at the modulator? I checked mine one day and it only had 7"hg. I thought it to be a little low and this truck still shifts a little hard I think.
Warthog, the bracket is bent(45 degrees or so). My starter is a gear reduction because it looks like the one on the right with the exterior bolts on it. I'll have to get another bracket when I put starter back in. Thanks
