I have the same problem. No grinding sound, or feel just will not roll backwards. I looked at the parking brake, and loosened the pads. I never thought about looking for grease. I will report back, after the inspection, I am excited!
It all depends... If the time to filter becomes long, time to change to a new filter. It depends where I get the oil. Some is really clean, sometimes, not so much.
These types of starters are very easy to rebuild, and there are kits to re-build 12 v starters. Are there any such parts to re-build our 24 v starters? Has anyone re-built their starter (and lived to tell about it)?

I'm courious why you would use the TM's for correct oil? When the Tm's were written there was single weight Oil, now there is so much better oil available. Use a multi weight oil, and call it a day. What am I missing?
WMO modification is Done!, I have the tag and all. Maybe I am just too ready for summer. The cab get so hot. I am thinking with to doors off, it would not be too bad, during the summer.
Ok, so summers a long ways away, but, I am thinking about removing the doors for summer. It is a jeep..kinda. Can I do this? Is it legal? Jeep CJ's run without doors. What about Mirrors? Am I stupid? I seem to remember some discussion about this before, but in searching, I could not find...
