Speaking of overdrive units, one advantage to the US Gear unit over Gearvendors is the fact that it mounts Between the tranny and transfer case, that means it works in 4wd as well. It also is a motor driven electrically shifted unit, so you can leave it in overdrive the entire time. The...
His is one of smoothest 1008's I've seen. Sometimes they just build em right. Not too mention the documentation in the truck shows it was very well maintained. :)
LOL, at your comment in the video. :driver:
The 6.2 CAN spin that fast, is it GOOD for it to spin that fast? Absolutely not. But for you guys saying it's just not possible, I'm sorry but you're wrong. I have personally witnessed cammed up turbo charged 6.2's spin well into the 4's. Sure...
Yup, he bought that truck from me, it is the one you were looking at. It does have a TH400, we did not change any gearing. To the best of my knowledge it still has the original 4.56 gears in it, just based on the mph it shifts at compared to other 1008's.
There's no doubt it is one of the...
I'm not sure you would need a Class B license.
CLASS B (minimum age 18): Required to operate any single vehicle rated in excess of 26,000 pounds. Example: Motor homes rated at 26,001 pounds or more
That is from the PennDot website. The 818 is rated for a higher GVW, but it actually weighs...
I'll be darned, I thought it was for a radio hook up too. Learn something everyday!
How's the M1008 treating you?
What was the drive like back over the mountain when you picked it up?
Sometimes it's easier to beg for forgiveness then ask for permission. LOL
I have problems going the other way... I live in Montana which has no sales tax, yet some states where I purchase charge me tax and I have to go through the hassle of trying to get it back. Hasn't been too bad...
$400 will buy you a pretty nice used air ride seat out of a Freightliner. No doubt air ride on a stock deuce seat would help some, but it will still be a deuce seat. Terrible lumbar support, not much padding, limited on seat back angle, etc.
If you're looking for comfort but still wanting to...
160 degrees is really too cool for an engine to operate ideally. High horse gas motors can do it, but no advantage whatsoever in a Diesel. In fact, a diesel will be much happier at 195 degrees than it will be at 160.
I would recommend putting a 180 thermostat in it. If it gets cold where...
LOL! The perfect gift!
LOVE the camo outfit idea!
Here's another idea, check with a few restaurants and see if they would give you their waste fryer oil. You'd need to filter it really well but they make filters just for that purpose you can pick up at a restaurant supply house. I know I...
That's what's so great about this site, always somebody there to rain on your parade...
Speaking of parades, make sure you load the back of that bad boy full of cheerleaders and put it in the Homecoming parade!:jumpin:
Congrats and have fun! :driver:[thumbzup]
Not sure if I can say this or if it violates some forum rule.
Anyway, I charge $1.75 / loaded mile when delivering deuces myself, I pay a local trucker $2 / mile to have my 5 ton dumpers hauled (too heavy for my trailer).
Shoot me a message if you're needing specifics.
I live in small town Montana, hopefully finding the stuff won't be too bad. On the other hand, from the sounds of it I may need to order a CASE off the internet, LOL
Thanks SO MUCH for this thread. I have a 5,000sq ft shop that has a huge mouse problem, the little suckers get into everything in there, saddle bags of my motorcycle, toolbox of the four wheelers, inside my 5th wheel.... B*stards made a nest under my girlfriend's pillow in the bedroom inside...
Don't know much about the 6.2 non turbo, but in the turbo Cummins / Duramax world, 1350 pre turbo EGT is the magic number you don't want to go over. Why are you guys saying 1000 is the limit on the 6.2? Are the pistons that much weaker that they won't handle the heat?
This totally depends on the year of the suburban, 80's vintage, maybe can be flat towed, 90's cannot be flat towed without removing drive line. 2000's can be flat towed by placing transfer case in neutral. The owner's manual of the suburban will tell you if that particular rig can be flat towed...
