yeah its been a rough experience, I'm finding out that these military vehicles are really meant to be fixed in the garage rather than the mechanic shop.. regardless, I'm working with a fellow steel soldier to get a used engine. I have no idea about mechanic work, but I think I'm going to attempt...
A quick question about this trick of pouring transmission oil in the intake, how much do you put in it? I wanna try and get it started and drive home rather than trailering it. thanks again.
Thanks a bunch guys! I think thats what I'm gonna do, get it home and try a swap myself or get rid of the thing period.. Mechanic bills are just getting old.
Thanks nyoffroad, its a crappy situation either way but I'm just trying to decide whether or not to have them put a new engine in it. of course thats a 6k investment but in the long run I think it'd be worth not having any engine problems in the near future.
He showed me a sheet with each of the psi numbers on it, I just remember them being between that range.. also its solely a diesel mechanic shop and they've tested the glow plugs, ip, an everything that leads to a starting and compression issue. I totally agree with you that it seems impossible...
The cylinders ranged from 90psi to about 160 I believe. Oil is fine, I also had a concern about the timing chain but the mechanic blew air through the cylinders and it came out of the pistons, concluding that the rings were most likely shot. so according to them, regardless of the timing...
Well looks like after some time the mechanic where my truck is at priced a rebuild at nearly the same price as a new Jasper engine. So now I'm looking at around 6k to drop a new engine in the truck. I just cant get around the fact that something else has to be causing the low compression unless...
This is what I've been asking myself for the past 8 months! its crazy, the owner before me was the second owner and he only drove it around town.. the mechanic shop its at right now is a good place, they specialize only in diesels, and they've dealt with military trucks before. Fact is, I'm just...
Thanks so much guys. So out of curiosity, I'm in Central Indiana and from what I've searched on the web, where would you go about getting a used or new 6.2 engine? I think I'll start with trying to rebuild it, but if its too far gone then I'll try for a new or used engine. I've just got too much...
Hello soldiers,
I've had my first cucv vehicle which is an m1009 since June of last year. It was running literally like a brand new truck, everything working right, and two days later it wouldnt start. since then, it hasnt been on the road, and only in and out of mechanic garages. I've replaced...
I live in noblesville, and am hoping to get an m1009 here pretty soon... so I was wondering if anyone had one in the Indianapolis area? preferably one that runs, maybe do some driving, and just check it out in person... I also have a mechanic friend who I have fix all my cars, and would probably...
Motorsource inc. they're based in IL..... 2210 SKOKIE VALLEY ROAD, HIGHLAND PARK, IL 60035 I'm looking at getting an m1009 from here in the next few weeks, and was wondering if anyone had any successes with them... thanks

hey guys,
still doing some research on the m1009, and had a question on how much gas a 6.2 uses when idling... I know on my 7.3 f250 when it idles say for about 1 hour you can tell it uses gas. what about the 6.2? thanks for your help!
Tim
any experience on how long a m1009 lasts? looking at one with 58,000 miles on it. I mainly want one for commuting because of the good gas mileage, and maybe plowing in the winter. thanks for anyones help.
hey everyone... had a question about these liquidation auctions. this particular one is in KY. but anyway, does anyone have any experience with buying these through the internet sight unseen? they say "runs with jump" so does that mean they really "run"? or should you usually bring a trailer to...
well, I've got this idea to turn the back of my m1009 into a sort of camper... and so I have some questions to you experts out there about some stuff and appreciate your help. first I would like to put a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker along with a bed, drawers tool box, etc. the way I...
