Hi Folks,
Thanks very much for all of the advice!
I've been traveling but hope to try the suggestions tomorrow or Monday. I have also downloaded the PDF "frank8003" posted and I'll study that document.
I'll report back with any results and/or what I have found...
Thanks again,
Tom
Spring Brakes Not releasing
Hi Folks,
My truck is a 1990 BMY 923-a2 that generally is in very good shape. Unfortunately my trucks sits more than it should. A few weeks ago I went to drive the truck and it would only move when a great deal of power was applied.
A friend solved a problem...
FYI, Fastenal will not deliver to nor pickup from NV under any circumstances
Last year, after many scheduling delays they finally said they were not booking any business with NV customers. I believe that this shipping policy is still in place today.

Howdy,
This worked for me. I ended up removing each dog-bone and threading each insert.

Howdy,
My solution works for me:

I ended up drilling and tapping the original insert. Biggest pain was removing the dog-bones and setting them up in the mill.

Thanks everyone!
I don't know how I missed this. Proving once again that there's always something new to learn ;-)
I have had several very positive deals with members and I will go back and make sure that I recognize them!

Can someone help me find this forum...
Howdy,
My truck (1990 BMY 923a2, 6CTA) needs a new in block oil cooler.
Does anyone have a recommendations on purchasing a replacement oil cooler as an opportunity to upgrade the truck for more reliability and/or efficiency?
All comments and info Greatly Appreciated!
Thank,
Tom

Howdy simp5782,
The parts were unmarked and I am under the impression from conversations with Eric that he may be having them made... I have not found any direct replacement for Eric's part myself.

Howdy,
I don't any way to say it in a simpler form but the facts are facts so I will try one last time. In NV the law is very clear and all of the people responsible for enforcing the law said the same thing to me three times in three different meetings.
1) If you are involved in an...
Howdy,
I do not know about driving a Deuce in NV. However, I have personally verified the information that I posted in #22 of this thread relative to legally driving a 5 Ton (in my case a 923-a2) in the State of NV. You can verify the information by speaking with someone at the NV DMV, NV...
I used two of these:

You can see that there is a lip on the outside of the insert to prevent the dog bone from slipping over and off the insert.
Thanks for the help with locating another dog bone!

Update - My Solution
Hi Folks,
Here is my original solution for limiting the separation of a dog bone from a standard military insert.
1) The plates are 5" x 1/4" steel disks purchased via eBay.
2) I drilled a 5/8s hole in the center of each plate (oversized for my 1/2 mounting bolt to...
Howdy,
We have used Fastenal in the past but they recently told us that they are not handling delivers to NV or CA and no delivers are currently available at this time.

Howdy,
I have purchased a military box with 12 individual snow chains in it (size 14-20).
No particular time constraints within reason.
One crate l x w x h = 30” x 44” x 27”.
Total weight approximately 900 lbs.
Packed and ready to go.
Fork lifts at both ends
