67 Mustang heater core for $30 vs $260 OEM replacement. Took minor effort. Found tools left in air breather by USMC. Used nutserts for the box mounts so the next time will be easier. Push in fasteners for heater box boot from NAPA Balkamp rack. Can use straight 5/8 hose or a pre-bent one from...
TALLY HO! Problem solved. Bad TPS.
Tried following the TM for adjustment and meas's, but no test lead, no test block and the procedure is poorly explained (21 years as a military mechanic qualifies me to make that determination I think).
So, per another forum, I adjusted the TPS to .5 volts...
Without the special lead, which wires do you check voltage from? The manual doesnt specify. Only says check between A and C, but not which wires that corresponds to. Any help is greatly appreciated! Cheers!
With pump removed you can see the three threaded bolt holes and the drive pin (that MUST go back in the oval hole)
Note the rust on the pump from sitting in water for who knows how long....no valley drain.
My pump needed a new housing as well as a rebuild. Less than $900.
Reinstallation (sorry...
Carefully remove IP bolts. Engine will have to be rotated via harmonic balancer to access each bolt.
Next remove the two bottom pump hardware and top one last. It will be easier to manage.
Remove pump, center spring loaded shaft will come out with pump.
Now is a good time to clean the pan...
Used a "crows foot" on the end of a long extension to access hard to reach IP fuel line b-nuts. From NAPA-about $10.......5/8 I think.
Looking through the oil filler tube opening you will see the three IP mount bolts and two other holes. Round one, not used. Oval one is for your pump pin. Ensure...
I read the TM, but couldn't find pics for this procedure on 'net. Maybe this will help someone with their IP issue.
Truck wouldn't start/ no fuel to injectors. Drained tank, clean fuel in, pressure fuel into and out of filter housing, had fuel at rubber return hose on IP, both solenoids click...
Frank....perhaps.....anyway
Wire 350c was already skinned back so motorpool had already been in there before.
At idle, 350c shows 5.13v at full fwd, 5.15 full aft
355b 5.02 fwd, 4.99 aft
359h .01 both pos's
Will compare to TM when back from the field.
Looks like a bad TPS. Will post up final...
Cleared the codes and drove it this am. Drove perfect. Stopped and drive again, stuck in 2nd and codes 85, 86 again. When I had the ip rebuilt, they replaced the housing and I think they just stuck the tps back on so it def needs adjusting.
Can you do it by just probing the wires with a meter...
I'm out of ideas. Been chasing this one for about a week. Using the TM (Supp 7) and the internet. I have no test equip
Wasn't running when I got from GPnt. Bad IP-Replaced Injection Pump-runs fantastic. Drove, only up to 2nd gear. Shifted normal about three test drives after, but not now...
As they say, third time is a charm and today's recovery was just that. Folks at Robins AFB were great. They had even jumped ol' girl off and had it running when I got there. It had a full tank of diesel too! Did a quick inspection, couple laps around the yard, topped off the brake fluid...
After suffering a year without a big green beast in the driveway, I gave in to the son's begging and we're back in the Deuce n' A Half game! And in God's Country no less (Georgia).

All Good Things....
Sadly, I had to say farewell to the Mobile Man Cave. Moving cross country and can't physically drive it that far right now.
Found it a very good home though. Nice couple from Melrose, NM picked it up and absolutely love it!
Was a bit heartbreaking to see it roll...
Great info all. I scoured the internet and found a bunch of folks that make their own wheels, Rockwell centered 15" and such but not many folks with centers (at least advertised).
I've got a line on some now so we'll see. I just see a ton of bobbers running them but can't find just the...
$500 5 ton wheel adapters
Awesome. Local guy'll make me some adapters for my 5 ton wheels to mount on my M109 for $500 apiece. What a deal. I don't think so!
Google turns up nothing, search on this site is like a needle in a haystack. Lots of reading about the science involved in making...
OKAY, so the best I can do is about $650 to get the 395s mounted on my stock wheels. There has to be a comparable option for adapter for recentering 5 ton wheels to 6 lug deuce wheels......anyone ....... anyone..... Beuller..... Bueller..........:?
