I knew I was forgetting something, the headers were something I thought about but tossed into the back of the pile because it was one of the cheaper things that I intended on doing. Though now that I think about it, it would make sense to do that sooner.
Looks like I am going to have a good bit of things to look in on then. Yay, just more things to add to my todo list once though now with the new additions it looks like I'm going to have to put it on hold, at least until I get back from boot camp. What a kill joy.
@Haasino
That looks to be what I will end up doing, though I'm not so worried about the armor. The weapons mounts aren't that important either, just as long as it has the turntable on top even if it is lacking a gun mount.
I have looked around and found people selling kits to make one a slant...
I was wondering where exactly this fell when it came to a civilian being able to find one? I have seen a few M998's and some others that I'm not so sure about, but I this is the particular model I have been looking for. So any way you all can help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Oh well I'm not sure any of them served but my gandpa, god bless his soul served in the marine corp for I think 37 years died at 86 about ten years back. My dad served the marines for about 7 years, and my bother 27 years. Though my brother spent his last seven years in the navy. Not to mention...
I thought about a Cummins but still not sure on that. It's a thought that I'm still mulling over, especially since Cummins has perhaps the best running diesel motors ever produced, in my book anyway.
Looks like I need to go over my notes again.....then it could also just be being forgetful. Yeah, leave it to me. Still even though I haven't been the most attentive when it comes to that no I think I keeping the stop 6.2 is the best.
One problem, a 6.6 Duramax kit, well all the ones I have looked at use fuel injection....fuel injection is irritating to deal with when a part of it breaks so no thanks. I would rather just deal with a carburetor, sure it's outdated and rarely used anymore but it's just so much better in my book.
Wow, a whole bunch of new things to consider, swapping the transfer case, and all such other little things. Yay, looks like my weekends will be full up.
If you are really looking to keep the noise down you could always Dynamat the interior. I know it's not the lightest addition but it will kill a lot of the noise from outside the cab. Though I'm not sure how water proof it is, I know that my old thunderbird made a racket until I put down...
That all is really helpful, especially the information about the transfer case. I will look into it, and while I know it will be a lot of work I'm hardly scared of putting time into it. While I know that fuel economy is never going to be stellar I intend to get it as good as I can, it's all part...
The newer 6.5 turbo relies heavily on a computer. I'm not worried about the cost anyway, this isn't something that I am going to do all in one weekend. I'm looking at around four months at least, since I will only be able to work on it during the weekends. I like the older 6.2 because well it's...
I was talking this over with a mechanic friend of mine, since fuel mileage is important to me. He told me that if I intended to keep the old 6.2, or since I'm somewhat of an apocalypse nut an older diesel motor, that I should put an forced induction system on it. The two words that left his...
I have been looking all over and can't find a copy that I can download. I want to get a hold of this and read it over before I go into the process of buying a HMMWV. If anyone has a link for them I would appreciate it.
TM 9-2320-280-10 is the full code for the manual and I can't find a...
