Hey Gunworm,
Have you checked the service light toggle switches? That is assuming that you have the original wiring set up. The Blackout settings can be confusing. BTW, I am a fellow CUCV driver from Ava, MO. Maybe I'll see ya on the road sometime!
Cheers, Sedone
Crossover Steering is the first "Mod" in the resurrection list but I guess if I'm forced to get a new T-Case and Tranny those would actually be "mods"
as well. I am just doing the one arm for now and adding a two shock steering stabilizer until I can get the dough for a ram, hoses and the...
Thanks Guys,
Yeah, I'll be sure and post my findings. I have another 6.2L ready to go and so this might force me to do a 203/205 T Case and I'm thinking about a 4L80-E with an independent controller.
Anybody got input?
Thanks, sedone
Hey Guys,
I was wheeling in SE Missouri near a local creek when I broke three of the studs in my lifted steering block, left it until the next morning unfortunately my Beautiful 1008 was not even visible under 20 feet of water. So long story short I got her out with no damage other than mud and...
Well, My experience was top notch. Their estimate of 50% tread was a low-ball for sure, tires looked great and I got them in three days to Missouri.
Thanks for your feedback, it really made my decision easy. Oliver
I put a 4 inch lift on my M1008 and looking at the front brake lines they look like if I go too far in a twist they might rip. Anybody have experience or suggestions for what lines I should go with and where from?
TIA, Oliver
Hey Guys,
Anyone dealt with Berg tires for Goodyear take offs?
Better yet does anyone know somewhere or some one that
has 36-12.50/16.5 M/T's near southeast Missouri? Just hoping!
Thanks for your input, Oliver
Hey Guys,
I have an 86 M1008 with the 6.2L that has 46,000 miles on it. I started her up a few days ago, got about 1/4 mile up the road and I started to feel a hesitation or misfire type situation. On a gas engine I would have thought that it was maybe a clogged fuel filter or dirt in the carb...
Thanx Guys,
Did any of you use any kind of penetrating fluid or WD40 or such? Obviously I would blow out the cyclinder with the plug in before firing.
Thanx again, I was thinking I would be pulling the head yesterday and today I have hope.

Well, Mangus you were correct that I have damaged at least one glow plug in my CUCV. I got the 070's you recommended and today with a semi warm day melting the ice enough so I could work on her I pulled three of the drivers side plugs but when I (actually We, the wife was doing the wrenching...
O.K. so I got a new set of glow plugs, is there anything else a Jack@#s like me should know before I put them in, is there concern for the controller or relay?
I suppose that taking the old ones out should be done as gingerly as possible (the whole mushroom thing), correct?
I also assume that...
So I have gone through almost all of the steps suggested, the Batts are good, checked all the fusables, fuses and on. She is still doing the exact same thing. I just had an idea, I have a switch on the dash just like the one pictured. I was told to turn it on to warm the glow plugs and I...
Thanx so much guys, today is Big X-Mas for us Krauts. We open presents today so maybe someone got me
a gift card = new tools! I'll let you know how it pans out.
If the starter is bad would you guys suggest doing the 12v conversion?
I have read two versions one running it a split system with 3...
Hey Guys,
I searched the forum and haven't been able to glean it from there so...
I am having my first issue in regards to my new-to-me M1008.
I left her sitting for a couple of weeks, tried to start and got about three or four
shots at it before the whirring and clicking started. Disconnected...
I learned my fuel gage accuracy today and ran out of Diesel.
I've tried air in the filler at the tank but no go.
What is the proper way to re fuel and where should my fuel
filter on a M1009 be?
TIA, Sedone
I read that too Jay. Although I have used POR15 before with great success it's also that I'm looking to be able to spray and I don't have a spray gun yet. I checked out the Zero Rust stuff, looks good and price is right. I am just not sure if I need to use a UV resistant paint on the frame...
