edpx, that is quite an ordeal! When the starter doesn't work, the solenoid does make a very solid "click" each time, so it does seem to be getting enough juice, but you're right, checking continuity around the whole system might be a good idea, if I get around to it this weekend. Meantime...

Or possibly, I might get the parts and take a crack at rebuilding it myself. The original one is the 27MT, isn't it? Or do you know how to identify it?
