Thanks for the info. I did think about going used but I would like to have this fixed with new parts this time to avoid having another used one slip a couple of years down the road. Who knows how good one of those will be.
Ever since I bought my 09 the tailgate window handle would slip and eventually went out completely (blazer SOP). I finally got around to getting the crank and the clutch replaced only to find out that the gears in the regulator are stripped out... I found one on LMC for 100 bucks which isnt...
After my Gov lock made an escape attempt from the carrier I got rid of the old carrier and installed a mini spool. Just one small step in its journey to becoming a serious trail rig!
I had a bad fuel leak on my oh9 for a few months (didnt have the time to fix it for a while). There were several small holes on the dead center bottom of the tank. had to drop the tank to get this to work properly but i bought a fuel tank repair kit from NAPA. fixed it back in september of last...
Well, my M1009 is down for the count now. had to buy a second vehicle so i don't have to worry about the breakdowns during the winter months. hopefully once my tools are mostly paid off and spring comes, ill be able to start building her the way i want. cant wait to get it running like a champ...
I have seen threads stating that 24v starting systems are better in cold weather, my question is why? Yes, voltage is the force that pushes current but i was always under the impression that the more current you have going through an electric motor the stronger it will be. 12v with two batteries...
I finally got around to doing this mod. It seems to work fine. bad starter but i can hear both the relay and solenoid click so thats a good sign for the relay mod at least
got my starter pulled off and found the problem right away. the ground strap on the solenoid was broken. concerns me because there is really no reason that it should have broken with no moving going on between the motor and solenoid.
Hopefully this weekend ill be replacing my starter if i can get fast enough shipping. I dont have any tools available at home (they are all at work), does anybody know off hand what size the bolt heads are so i know what to take home?
thats what i was scared of. its been having trouble starting lately and i think that has something to do with me not being able to get an after glow off of my glow plugs and that extended crank could have caused the motor to go out. are there any 24v gear reduction starters out there for a 6.2?
update: went outside and listened again when i turned the key because the relay click sounded a bit loud. stuck my head out of the door while turning the key and heard the distinct click of a starter solenoid.
