Thanks for sharing. I'm definitely liking what they did. I can't tell from the picture angle, but if there is room for a grommet on the split rim hole that would sweet.
As mentioned earlier, that picture above is from an A3 with the CAT 3116. Here's a snapshot of the alternator schematics from TM 9-2320-386-24-1-2. I believe the two wires in question are 770N and 770P.
TM - The alternator bracket you made me for the 24V - Delco 27si conversion for my A3 worked perfect. In fact, it is better than my original which was always off one belt rib on the pulley. I can't thank you enough. I still want to get some more miles on it, but so far, life is good. Here are a...
Here are some pictures. Apologies for the focus... I could not see the camera focus lock since the camera was buried in the engine compartment to take the shots. Also, since we had so much rain up here, the mosquito's are like piranha tonight and I was rushing.
Oh, by the way, I just...
I'm heading to the garage now to pull the pulley from the alternator. Will have them in the mail tomorrow. Will also send plenty of pictures to help the creativity process...
Looking for a new one... that is, after I go through the charging system. The fourth of July is over and I don't want to see any more fireworks. :D
Was that Delco a drop in, or required modifications?
Thanks Doghead - I will be sure to double check everything before the new alternator goes in. Let me know if you're ever out this way. I owe you lunch for all the help you provided me.
NDT - Yes, it definitely appears the alternator gave its all.
glcaines - Appreciate the recommendation...
Returning from successful NYS inspection on a beautiful sunny Rochester day (humor me, we don't get many up here) I started smelling some electrical smoke. I look down at the gauges and the voltmeter is pegged past the red overcharge. I start slowing down to pull over, the truck dies and all the...
Looks Awesome!! You guys in Central NY have all the fun. Impressive creativity and excellent execution. Thanks for helping saving our planet and not letting another vehicle be a single use item. Keep up the great work...
air leak - swivel branch tee on firewall
A few earlier posts discussed air leaks, has anyone else experienced problems with leaks from the plastic swivel branch tee, see attached picture. Leak is occurring in the swivel (by grey nut in picture). I checked the schematics in the TM and it feeds...
Here's another thread on A3 tire options.
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?60697-M35A3-Tire-Replacement
As Camp mentioned, there are differing opinions regarding replacements. 395's are much cheaper but the bead is taller than stock A3 MPT rims. If you stick with MPT tires they're...
When air pressure is applied it should disengage. In the current state, not running with no air pressure/connection, it should be engaged and you should not be able to turn fan by hand. If indeed the fan clutch is shot, now is the time to repair it when the radiator is out. If not, you will need...
Did anyone install the Hot Start kit yet? I would be interested in seeing some pictures? I'm not a fan of ether and my truck is bi-polar... either it starts in 1 tap of the starter switch above 40F, or about six 5 second cranks when below freezing.
Regarding tires, yes many Unimog's uses the...
