Just checking to see if we have anymore folks in the Wyoming/Colorado area. If so, has there ever been a meet and greet set up?
I'm in Laramie myself and have seen a few deuces rolling around, so I was curious if we had any other members in the area.
I've recently started using the Opti Lube XPD in my 1009. It's smoothed it out a bit and improved gas mileage about 2 mpg. I've only had it running through 3 tanks, so I'll keep everyone posted.
I used my scope mounting torque wrench for mine. If you can find someone with a scope mounting kit, that worked perfect. Mine had a recommended torque value of 20-25 in lbs. That's not much more than snug.
Hey guys, I'm in need of a rear axle for my 09. I found one on eBay, but it's located in Hesperia, CA and the seller will not ship. Do we have any members close to that area that would be willing to pick it up, prep for shipment, and send it off?
Obviously, I would cover all shipping costs...
Alright guys.....just an update. The flex plate ended up solving the problem. Not sure what the noise was right off the bat....possibly the torque converter bleeding out some air.....not sure. No noise now, and running good.
Thanks for all the advice!
Outstanding......thanks for all the great advice and direction guys. Sounds like I can tackle this myself. Ordered my 1000W heater yesterday, so just waiting for it to come in then I will be installing. I'll keep you guys posted on how it turns out. Thanks again!
Alright, replaced the flex plate and put everything together. When I first started it and it warmed up I still had a small noise. I took it for a drive and no noise when I returned. So, I'm a little stumped....we'll see if the noise returns today. I'm kind of thinking I may be headed for a new...
Alright, thanks. I think that's what I'm going to do....just change out the flex plate as I don't have any related transmission problems besides the noise.
Alright guys.....I got it taken apart this weekend. The flywheel/flexplate looks fine with the exception of the mounting holes for the torque converter have been elongated some. They're now kind of elliptical instead of round. I suspect this was from an earlier owner having loose torque...
Thanks to everyone for the great advice. I think I'm going to go with the 1000W immersion heater. Just a single one for now, and see from there if I need a second.
Next question.....I have never installed something like this. How hard is it to pop out the middle freeze plug on the driver...
Outstanding.....that's kind of the way I was leaning. Thank you sir.
Just curious.....do you leave it plugged in over night or just plug it in before you get ready to fire her up?
Hey guys, I'm planning on installing a block heater on my newly acquired M1009. I live in Wyoming where the temperature is regularly around zero at night and most times much colder.
I was curious if any of you have any experience with them. I have found that I can install the tank type...
Hey guys......I just wanted to say first that I'm new here and love the site and all the information here.....it's great. I read the technical manuals and searched around and didn't find anything on this, so if I missed something.....apologies.
I just bartered my way into a 1984 CUCV M1009...
