Morning,
When I was in, before deployment when the radio guys would outfit a HMMWV, they would seal off all contacts and bolts with a grey rubber sealant. Anyone know what this stuff is? I believe it keeps the contacts protected and if I remember correctly they just peeled it all off when...

Looking to take this one on myself. I have a torn boot on the front right halfshaft. Mine's an 88 998. If I'm following along correctly, there is NO 12k upgrade when it comes to a simple swap out? Is that right? I'm also gathering the orig 998 halfshafts are 7k and now we should use 10k...
Searched a lot and saw a lot of "check the hubs" but not much detail. Does this video cover all you should do on a new truck to ensure the spindle is good? That and hammer in the lock tabs? Or is there more that should be done?

Super dumb question, but I cannot find it covered in any TM, or internet search for pics, or search on this forum. What's the correct way to use the steering wheel lock cable? Any pics or real world experience out there? I know it's an odd/obvious question, but I doubt anyone can find...

Well for now, meaning no conclusion. Automagically is working for now. i don't expect this to be the end, but I moved onto other things while I'm waiting for my wire harness to show up. I've cleaned and serviced the batteries already, but I don't feel I did a good enough job on the wires...
Quick update, I got out the multimeter and tested around per the TM. Wasn't getting a solid trail to go on. Went back to the battery tests, and the batteries were testing all weird/low. Tested individual batteries, and still over 12V each. On a whim went back to starter switch and now it all...
After 2 months of being solid, the truck is dead in the water. Wife, kids and I went to go have a spin tonight and nothing, no sounds, no lights when I go to switch it on. I just moved it last night and it was fine. All switches were off. No idea where to start, but I thought I'd post here...
Just finished gutting the whole interior and cleaning out all the crap, reinstalled everything, serviced batteries, and wrapped the foam padded bows in black Hockey stick fabric grip tape to keep the deterioration under control (and so I can continue letting the kids have their way with the...
Thanks for the input on this. I'm a bit surprised there wasn't an overwhelming groundswell around Milspray given the statement on their website
"It is the authorized and approved method for touching up vehicles and equipment having a CARC paint finish MILSPRAY™ CARC touch-up products are...
