Solved the problem! Had a blocked vacuum line!

So I put a brand new modulator from napa on my transmissions last night, and it seems to shift even harder. What gives?

Such as a way to check the vacuum?

Awesome, thanks Zach, is there a way to check the modulator besides checking to see if there is fluid coming out?

Is there a difference between the governor and the modulator? Rockauto lists them as the same part?

How would I test the regulator?

Thanks Wayne. Will do. How do i check the pump for leaks?? It was my impatience kicking in that allowed me to screw up. I learned a lesson, so that helps I guess.

I took the chance, undid the tranny, slid it back a bit, and was able to rotate the TC and slide it back, the flex plate was bent a bit, but didn't seem bad, I took the chance and put it back together and didn't have any problems, all gears worked fine, started fine, starter didn't stick or...

Yikes.........ok. What is involved with replacing/repairing the pump?

It went in just about all the way by hand, but might have finished it with the bolts.

I'm not 100% sure of anything right now. How would I know if it's engaged or not?? I'm learning as I go here.....taking my time, but obviously not enough.
