I thought about the headache rack too. I wouldn't do it full width of the bed, as that would really stick out from the cab, and doing one only as wide as the cab would look funny too. I think a 1x1" square tube frame with expanded metal as a headache rack that bolts onto the cab just to cover...
I would remove the rear bumper though, and just have a solid plate going across the back between the frame rails, but not extending like the current bumper. Could move the license plate up onto the back of the bed just to the right of the reverse light.
I've seen the Q78s before. Buddy of mine ran them on hi suburban. Essentially tall and skinny TSLs.
I knew about the different wheel sizes. Was thinking if I did the Humvees, I'd get the 12 bolt rims to match and either have them recentered or run conversion spacers. Might do that after doing...
Thanks for the tips and info guys. I think once funds allow, an M715 might need to be in my driveway. Btw anybody run the 37" Humvee tires? Does it require any lift?
I agree. Slant back isn't for me either.
Addressing all of that, my plans were to do a whole sub frame that stiffens and reinforces the original cab to the middle cab, to the cargo area. Make it one whole body unit from the firewall to the tailgate. It will keep the entire "cab" structure...
Grafting an existing SUV body would be kinda neat, but are the dimensions right? For my idea, I want the whole thing to scream Deuce, not Deuce and Suburban.
I'll have to do up a sketch of the rear section. Anybody have a picture of the back of the cab of a Deuce without the bed in place?
I read that thread a while back, but that isn't what I am shooting for. I would certainly have the interior more finished than that.
I wasn't planning on using an M105 bed. The original plan was to fabricate everything from the "2nd cab" back. This way it would sit down maybe an inch from the...
Height in the back shouldn't be any more limited than any normal SUV. It will be longer and wider than a standard SUV, and I'm not sure about what height yet. I think more than anything the SAV-Thanks RangerBob!- would be for cruising the town, scaring the locals, and all around fun. Would...
not sure if I like the short length... and parking spaces here in MT are usually pretty huge since 2/3rds of the population drive either a 3/4 ton quad cab long bed or a dually.
Another idea to throw around... Maybe swap out the rear axle to rear steer??? Would certainly help with low speed...
It's the biggest and baddest SUV made out of a 50 year old truck with 50 year old technology  Plus the marauder isn't 4 door, and looks hard to climb in and out of. The marauder looks cool and all, just not what I would want.
That's cool and all but fact of the matter is it isn't a Deuce! I think the Deuce looks much better, at least on the front clip. Plus that marauder looks like a pain to climb in and out of...something I would not want to do with my bum knee.
