The ignition switch fell down inside the dash- how do I access the area behind and below the speedometer, etc.? The key and retaining nut are still in place. I assume that it (the part w/wiring) has broken off. Thanks, Gary.
Search the SS classifieds for a used engine (several have been listed around $500). Swap in a 700r trans if you want to run interstate speeds. I did this swap on my 08 last year and run 65-70 everywhere with the stock 235 tires. KEEP the DIESEL, someday you will be glad you did.
Sounds like the lift pump is going south. My 09 had the same symptoms until one day it cut off after a cold start and wouldn't restart. New pump solved the problem. The IP still has fuel in it from the last time it ran- the fuel bleeds out of the filter back into the tank and that is why it...
I use my m1008 as both a shop truck (just drove a 200 mile round trip to pick up 4 tires for my rock crawler) and an off road truck. I am running 4.10 gears now and will change to 3.73's as soon as I find a used set for the front. I installed a front locker and 35" tires (requires a little...

I need an m1008 moved from NJ 07039 to VA 24482 within a week. The truck is running and owned by another SS member and will probably be scrapped if I can't make transport arrangements. I am unable to move it myself because of work commitments and if anyone can help please pm me. Thanks.

I have this problem about once a month in the shop and use an acetylene torch to heat the area around the bolt hole for about 2 minutes. Be sure to heat this area uniformly (don't heat it in 1 spot) and then tap the easyout into the bolt and turn it out. Make sure to order the proper bolts from...
I just ordered another frame brace (got one on my 1 ton rockcrawler) for the 1008 from offroaddesign. Their products aren't the cheapest but they are the best. I had the "wobble" a while back- had a defective tire. The frame break problem is more prevalent on the 1/2 tons as the frame is made...
Note to maddawg308- I am a steel soldier, having just joined this year. Since this is my first reply, I'll make it short. I only have an m35a2 , m1008, and just bought an m1010. The purchase of the m35 from Mike was a no-brainer- great guy to deal with. I have spent 99% of my off-road life in...
